In the course of my travels through Alhanzar, I have come across some weird things. This is a collection of the odd, the unusual, and the truly bizarre, for your amusement.
Misplaced Terrain Features
This category covers terrain features - misplaced, missing, or just plain odd. Most of these are simply programming glitches, but they're amusing nonetheless.
North of Dunsmore, near the long peninsula that protrudes west into the river, there is a square with water and a bush on it. Don't step on it - you can still drown.
On the road east from Salazad, there's a similar square - this one is a bush on pavement, though.
If you go the eastern island north of Mar MAA and look east on the little screen, you can see a wall in the middle of the river.
In the forest north of the Mystic Realms College, there's also another wall. This one is one-way, though - if you approach from the north, you'll run into it, but you won't from the south.
There is a bookcase in the herbalist's room in the south part of Dunsmore - if you walk into it from the north, it says that "a strange force prevents you from moving further"; from the south, it gives the normal message about walking into a bookcase.
If you stand at the edge of the river just SW of the Salazad city wall, you can see land to the south. This is not Maranda - you can see the same land if you step off the westernmost island north of Mar MAA. in fact, it doesn't appear to line up to any known landmass. A lost island?
There's a wall in the mean dark wolf caves (DOC 2) that stands all by itself and doesn't show up on the map.
Misplaced Game Features
Okay, so they're not misplaced per se, but I couldn't think of a better name, and it continues the theme. This one covers all the things that were put into the game and apparently either forgotten or never fully implemented for whatever reason.
The NE quadrant of Persepolis is empty - it's supposed to be mercenaries, but they haven't been put in yet. Whether by accident or design, however, those who search can find a set of doors leading to this area, and can wander around the empty rooms. It's kind of creepy, really.
Miscellaneous
This one covers all the other stuff.
The area of East Haven is a testing ground (so to speak) for new terrain. One of the areas has different grass; if you go into the clearing there, the black "you can't see this" area turns to light blue. This isn't a glitch - it was Meno's attempt to make the black look like sky instead, but the players at the time voted it down.
Also in Haven East, there's a wall. The south end of the wall is a secret door that leads to a tiny room, and another door leads north to another room, but there's nothing in either one.
There is a spell called PROTLAIR. I kid you not - try it sometime.
There's also a monster called a "kynx". Apparently it's like a lynx, but brown. It can be found in the Breedery (thanks to Blayze_TDO for pointing this out).
Here's a good one. You have to see the pic to believe it. Yes, that's me, grappled by the swamp monster (just south of me, hidden by the chat box) and submerged in water over my head... on an island. It would have been funnier if I could have gotten free...
And then there was the time I got into the PTB meeting room in the Haven Town Hall...
Here's a weird one... This one was so strange that I decided to let the picture speak for itself.
Okay, this one's more funny than strange, but I felt it deserved an honorable mention... this is Nodens getting his butt kicked by a crazed rabbit. The damage wasn't from the rabbit, according to Nahkoe, but the wounds/being knocked out were. We're all in the College, in case anyone is wondering.
No one's quite sure what Mirabell is doing behind the bar or how she got there; theories range from Zak needing a barmaid to her falling off the wagon. Whatever the reason, it's certainly amusing.
