Pacey, Andie, Joey and Dawson are watching Andie while she dances to Footloose. Andie tells them that she is excited about the homecoming dance and the others tell her they don't want to go and proceed to give her examples of their unsociability. Andie ridicules them and asks them what type of memories are they going to have of high school if all they did was bitch and moan. Dawson adn Joey reply "bitching memories, moaning memories" Andie then tells them that dancing can be a huge sexual turn on and all of a sudden they all seem more interested in attending the dance
*cue opening credits*
Bessie stops outside school so that Joey can get out. Joey tells Bessie that Jack kissed her and asks her what to do . Bessie laughs and tells her whether it meant anything. When Joey responds no she tells her just to pretend it never happened and not to tell Dawson.
Abby is talking to Jen and she says that she is going to the homecoming dance so that she can steal Kirsty's boyfriend Brett. Jen thinks that it is stupid so Abby tells her to stay at home then.
The camera then shows Brett and Kirsty fighting
Dawson walks past hearing them and makes Joey promise that they will never fight like that in public. She promises and they kiss. They then start talking about dancing being a sexual turn on.
Abby and Jen walk past and Abby tells Dawson to wipe the drool. After they are gone Joey comments that she thinks that Abby is a bad influence over Jen and Dawson is surprised to see her stick up fro Jen and they decide to invite her to the dance with them.
Pacey and Andie are talking about arrangements for the dance and Pacey arranges to meet her somewhere and enquires about her mothers health. She says its fine. Pacey then tells Andie that he can't dance and then follows a friendly arguement until Dawson turns up
Andie asks if she can invite Jack to come with them too because she thinks that hes lonely. Dawson and Andie then want to set up Jack with Jen but Pacey thinks that its a bad idea because they are totally differnt people but it is arranged leaving Pacey wondering if he's invisable.
Dawson comes home to find his parents talking on the porch. They then proceed to tell him about Mitch moving out of the house. Dawson does not take it well and suggests that they keep going to counselling etc and then finally storms off
Andie and Jack are getting ready for the dance. Jack asks why she didn't ask Pacey to pick them up at the house and she tells him because of their mom. He then tells Andie that he hates dances and hes not good at them but Andie tells him that he might meet his dream girl there but he says that he already has but before she says anything Pacey pulls up
Mitch is loading his luggage in the car and Gail asks if she can call him and he says of course. He then leaves Gail crying on the porch
Dawson then walks into the kitchen and sees his mom has been crying although she says it's from the onions. He offers to stay at home with her if she wants him to but she tells him to go have fun.
They all arrive at the party and Andie introduces Jack to Dawson and Joey but there is a tension between Jack and Joey. Jen joins them and more introductions are made as they all walk into the school.
Dawson is dancing with Joey and Jack with Andie, she keeps asking Pacey to dance but he says no. Abby then walks over to Jen and tells her she likes her dress.
A slower song comes on and Jack and Jen are set up to dance together. Pacey is talking to Andie and telling her its a bad ideea to set them up although she disagrees.
Dawson and Joey are talking about his parents and he's saying he would like them to return to their "coffee table antics" but Joey says there is a bright side "now the coffee tables available"
Dawson and Joey then start talking about jen and Jack together
Andie is still trying to convince pacy to dance with her but he still refuses and as Andie walks off pacey watches Brett and Kirsty dance together.
Jack and Andie are dancing and Andie dosn't want to dance with her brother the whole night so Dawson and Joey swap so Jack and Joey end up together. They dance uncomfortably and Jack asks her why shes being avoiding him but she says she hasn't been. He then apologizes for kissing her but she just walks off and as Dawson watches Jack follows her.
Joey is standing in the hall and Jack comes up and apologizes again. She tells him that she dosn't want him to follow her and he asks her why shes so angry. He then goes on to tell her that he thinks that shes not angry at him for kssing him shes angry because she kissed him back. And as Joey runs off Dawson is standing there looking angry.
Abby is dancing with Brett, and Jen is talking to Andie. She tells Andie that shes going to go home and then Jack walks up telling them that hes going home too so Andie tells him to walk Jen home.
Dawson then walks up and asks him what the conversation was about between him and Joey. Jack thinks he should talk about it with Joey but Dawson says that he kissed his girlfriend and Jack says that he's not going to apologize because he's not sorry and he would do it again .
*Dawson punches him*
Andie and Jack ask him what hes doing but Dawson just walks off.
Pacey walks out into the hall and sees Kirst standing all by herself he asks her why adn she says it's because Brett keeps flirting with "anything in a short skirt". Pacey tries to comfort her by telling her he knows about 800 guys who would love to be with her. She asks him if hes one of them and he says yes and they begin to dance together.
Gail rings up Mitch at his motel and they start talking about stuff. Gail then says she never noticed how big the house was till now and she dosn't think that she can do this but Mitch says that she has to because at the moment the house is too small for the both of them
Jen takes Jack home to look after his eye and Andie goes looking for Pacey. She walks out into the hall and sees him and Kirsty dancing. She runs off as Pacey sees her
Dawson starts walking home when Joey catches up to him and they start talking. Joey tries to explain but it goes wrong and Dawson gets mad and tells her not to turn the whole thing around so that he's the bad guy and they start fighting. People start gathering around and Dawson realizes that they are fighting in public and walks off.
Jack and Jen arrive back at her house and Jen tells Jack that he must really like Joey if he was willing to take a punch like that and that he's a romantic. They joke about it for a while and then Jen tells him not to stop fighting for his dream because eventually it might come true.
Mitch drives up to the house, looks through the window before driving off
Pacey walks down to the docks and finds Andie.
Andie says she though he didn't dance and he tells her he dosn't it was just that he got caught up in the moment and was swept off his feet by Kristy. Andie says that shes sorry that shes not the kind of girl that can do that. He tells her that he just wanted to act out a fantasy and Andie tells him that she had been trying to do that all evening. After pausing Pacey asks her why she likes him because he is a screw up. But Andie tells him that he's funny, smart, thoughtful etc and then Pacey tells her that he realized that when he was dancing with Kristy he was with the wrong person. He then asks her to dance and they do. He then asks her if she really though that he was all that stuff she said before and then asks her to kiss him and she does.
Dawson walks into his room and finds Joey who has been crying. She apologizes again and he asks her whats happening between them because ever since they were together she keeps pulling away. He though that he was what she wanted and she says hes what she will want and she says that he makes her so happy but she has to make herself happy first.
she starts to walk towards the window and Dawson says that he loves her. She turns back and tells him that she loves him too. They lean in like they are going to kiss but Joey pulls away and turns back to the window. Dawson asks her how it can be over the first time they say "I love you " but she says she has to go and says goodnight.
Joey climbs down the window andleans with her eyes closed agains the house and then runs off. Dawson watches her from the window and then kicks the ladder down in anger.
