Dungeons and Dragons (a registered trademark of Wizards of the Coast) has been a hobby of mine since I was a 9 year-old kid back in 1991. He introduced me to it over a game-board created on the back of some leftover wallpaper while he "rolled" the dice using the MS Excel Rand() command since we didn't have any geometrical dice on hand. I've been an RPG addict ever since that fateful night.

In the, currently, 17 years that have passed since that time, I've created hundereds of adventures, levels, quests and campaigns for this incredibly alterable game. Below, I have summarized the work going on currently in the three game worlds that I maintain; Aonach Mor, Shadowbound, and Seafoam.

Aonach Mor

The Aonach Mor campaign world is the oldest once I have that is still being played. I created it during the Spring of 2002 for a friend of mine. The action centers around a large, walled city called Anrob which is governed by a great warrior-king. In the two decades past, the city grew from a small town on the edge of the wilderness to one of the largest cities in the realm. Having beheaded King Hezz'riott of the Blackscale tribe of Lizardfolk, the self-proclaimed Lords of the Ernwood, Lord Menigrad began to rule the city of Anrob. Twenty years later, the Lizardfolk tribes in the forest just west of the city are scattered and Anrob lives in peace boasting the expansive temples to the Five Gods and the largest College of Magical Studies, the Arciversity, that the realm has ever seen.

But this apparent perfection is doomed. Strange mists have begun to creep into the streets and a terrible mutating illness has stricken the people. The Lizardfolk are becoming aggressive again and have begun to kidnap travelers on the road while an unknown group of thieves have begun to steal heads from the buried bodies of the dead.

Shadowbound

The Shadowbound campaign is the largest campaign I have ever written. Spanning over 70 documents and files and consisting of 33MB worth of text documents and maps; it is a campaign of epic proportions. The story has an expansive and rich history involving heroes and the tales of their exploits as they are told now, 2500 years later.

It has been two and half centuries since the Godless War when an army from the Plane of Shadow threatened to overtake the whole of the Prime Material plane. The races of the Prime Material banded together into a single army and its kings sought the aid of the Gods. Ever concerned with the balance throughout the multiverse, the Gods refused to give the army any more help, or indeed to participate in the war no more than they ever had. Angered and feeling betrayed, the Kings of the Prime Material tore down their temples and broke their alters declaring that they would succeed on their own. And they did.

Through the heroic efforts of Eldonell, the Commander of the Allied Army, they were able to able to break the backbone of the Shadling forces in a battle ever-after to be known as the Battle at World's Point. But although the army succeeded in driving the invading forces back to their own home, the cost was tremendous. No city or town or hamlet remained unscathed. Thyte, the Great City, and capital of the whole continent, seat for the Triune Tower and its rulers, was burned out. No one survived that final attack. With the dissolution of the ruling government, the continent spiraled into chaos. Others began to declare themselves kings and the problem spread like a virus. In only a few short years, the people of the Prime Material managed to destroy what the invading army didn't as they fought among each other, leaderless and greedy.

Now, the world is a different place. Petty kings and independant city-states dot the landscape and have nothing to do with each other. Trade between towns is slow and no one travels far from home. The taint left by the Godless War gave rise to Shadlings who cross the planar borders to kidnap lone travelers or take children from their beds. They move from shadow to shadow, unseen and unheard making the very darkness a threat in itself. During the day, politics make life hard; but when the sun sets, all your worst fears and nightmares come true. The Shadlings are out there; and they out there for you.

It is in this environment that the game begins. The raids from Shadlings are getting more numerous and as the memory of what was sacrificed to gain freedom from the darkness receeds into time, men have become more petty. But what will they do when the Shadlings, after two and a half centuries, return with a new army?

This adventure is pulled from the middle of a set, but can easily be adapted; it does not contain the 3-part journey to the treasure as originally played because I am currently updating it.

Seafoam

This campaign began as an experiment and has since grown and evolved into an interesting story. About 15 years ago, a group of individuals grew tired of the Feudal form of government practiced on the mainland. They strapped several large rafts and houseboats together and set to the sea. Since then, with the help of Wizards capable of controlling the weather, and expert shipbuilders, the group of rafts and house boats have grown to comprise the floating city now known as Seafoam. The city has no king, no lord or mayor, or in fact anyone person who rules. The city is run by the trade Guilds and each group (and therefore, section of the city), is governed by itself. During the times when a decision has an impact on the city as a whole, the five most powerful Guilds come together and make a mutual decision for the benefit of the community.

But when rumors start to float around about someone in the city possesing a magic item that allows them complete control of the seas, the city's enemies start to come from all sides to regain the item. The city falls under seige and one guild sees an opportunity to sieze control.
