That said, on to the review!
Jonathan Harker left Britain and his betrothed for the picturesque Carpathian mountains and the mysterious client wishing to purchase properties in London. Along the way he encountered much to unnerve him, but he persevered in his quest to complete business transactions with the client, Count Dracula of Transylvania. It becomes apparent, however, that the Count has more in mind than simply resettling in another, more populace region of the world: he plans on resettling in a more populace region of the world to prey upon it!
For Dracula is a vampire, and he requires the sustenance of blood to survive. Harker discovers the truth, but is unable to prevent the Count from departing to England. In London, his beloved Mina Murray begins a visit with her friend. Miss Lucy Westenra has just repulsed two suitors and accepted a third, but a fourth lies in wait for her, and his touch is death. Soon she begins to waste away, and nothing anyone can do--not even her three suitors who are the best of friends and all still love her--can save her life. Doctor Jerry Seward calls upon his mentor, the famous Abraham van Helsing, for assistance. He does what he can, but all for naught. Lucy dies...but a new evil lives.
Now it falls to van Helsing, Seward, and his friends Arthur Lord Godalming and Quincey P. Morris to put to rest the vile thing that stalks and preys upon young children. To succeed means to destroy something that wears the form of one they loved. To fail means to doom themselves and the world to eternal torment. What choice do they have? They receive assistance from a recuperating Harker and his new wife, but do they have the time and resources to stop the source of the evil once and for all? Do they have what it takes to stop Dracula before he strikes again, this time at one of their own?
Dracula needs no introduction. It has become a cult classic. Movies, plays, comics, books, and numerous other forms of entertainment have flourished thanks to the words Bram Stoker put down on paper and published. It wasn't the first vampire story, but Dracula took the reading public by storm, and it's still going strong!
