Monster Mania

No movie monster to date has so captivated the hearts of movie-goers of all ages as the one and only Godzilla. Okay, maybe he isn't simply "one and only" after all--he's died at least once that I've seen and once that I haven't, plus he has a son--but no other movie monster, not even Count Dracula or the Wolfman, has attracted so much attention from old and young alike.
Because Godzilla--or Gojira as he's called in Japan--is my favorite monster, I've decided to devote some pages to discussing his movie career and his co-stars: Rodan, Mothra, Ghidrah, et al. I'll also be reviewing what movies I've seen myself with my own ideas on how it could have been better. Presumptious of me, I know, but hey, why not? You've probably seen any number of movies and television programs and said to yourself, "I would have done it this way instead of that way." Well, I did that, too, and I'd like to find out how others feel about the movies.

There is a finite number of Godzilla movies available in America, so there will naturally be a finite number of pages I can create. However, there have recently been several Godzilla novels, so I'll do my reviews of them here as well. The novels are all very good...if somewhat confusing to someone who has seen all the movies and has difficulty reconciling differing portrayals of the monsters.

Then, if I run out of movies and books to review, this space will start seeing other movie monsters, such as Gamera, Reptilicus, The Beast from 20,000 Fathoms, and others. There are a lot of monster movies out there to work on!

Any pages added to this section of my site will also appear in Starfire Reviews and the Galactic Theater in addition to whatever reviews will appear in those sections.

Godzilla's in the South Seas, squaring off against a secret military organization and a giant lobster!

Sorry! I can't find Gigantis, the Fire Lizard anywhere, so even though it should have followed Godzilla, King of the Monsters, it can't.
