That said, on to the review!
The Rowan and the Raven are powerful Primes. Their daughter, Damia, is stronger than them and with her chosen husband, Afra Lyon, becomes part of a potent team. Now it's their children's turns to follow in their parents and grandparents' footsteps into the annals of Talent history. For the four oldest, at least, are all T-1 Talents...Prime material. And with their great Talents and the assistance of their Mrdini companions, there is little they can't do, whether it is becoming the first Tower Prime on the Mrdini homeworld, or investigating the largest Hiver ship (wrecked and uninhabited, fortunately) yet encountered, or transporting a captive Hive Queen to an empty moon installation, or traveling secretly all the way from Iota Aurigae to that same installation to save an entity that doesn't even seem to recognize humans as sentient beings! And that's just the beginning of the Lyon children's adventures!
Damia's Children looks at the next generation of powerful Talents as they continue their efforts against the invasive, implacable Hiver advance. Each Talented child has his or her own interesting adventures, and each one is worth perusing over and over. Whether it's watching as the eldest Lyon child, Laria, takes up her position as Clarf Prime or as Rojer Lyon endures breakfast after breakfast as he jumps from world to world, every moment with the Lyon clan is memorable and enjoyable.
Of all the Lyon children, I'd have to say my favorite is Isthian Lyon, Damia and Afra's second child and first son. I'm not sure why he's my favorite, except that it might be because of the problems he endures on his first assignment as a Prime. I mean, first he practically tosses out the book of naval protocols (albeit in good cause) the moment he arrives aboard his ship, then he has to endure a negative latent-Talent who's just waiting for him to mess up. THEN he has to deal with the problems caused by crew members too long aboard without "shore" leave. And that's before they even encounter the Hiver wreck! But watching him resolve all of those problems is an enjoyable experience. You'll see what I mean when you read about it.
Damia's Children sets the Talents--especially the Gwyn-Raven-Lyon clan--on the path to a final confrontation with the inimical Hiver race. It remains to be seen who will emerge triumphant, especially with the Mrdini's and their war-footing culture pressing for battle with the Hivers. But if I were you, I'd lay my money on the Talents: those Gwyn-Raven-Lyons have a bad habit of pulling off the impossible!
