Prophecies

Throughout the ages of existance there have been several individuals who were granted unique insights into the workings of the world as well as glimpses into the possible future. Listed here are some of the more prominent and important prophecies known.

Visions of the Daughters of Oberon

This legendary volume, believed to be the first of its kind, is only hinted at in other prophetic documents. Legend says that the nine daughters of the Last King of Oberon were all gifted with prophetic ability, but none more so than Veleda, his youngest daughter. The collection of their prophecies was supposedly written just before the fall of Oberon. The book has since been lost. However, a Tower-renegade wizard by the name of Merrick ap'Milandra has uncovered what he believes to be a portion of the missing book.

Ravings of a Mad Sailor

This weather-beaten logbook is the travelling journal of Rory ap'Rhys, a pirate captain in the service of the Pirate Queen of The Swan Islands during the Era of Enlightenment. Randomly scattered through his neatly printed daily journal are scrawled descriptions of future disasters as well as poetic prophecies. The logbook is currently in the possession of the wizard-advisor to the current Pirate Queen. Several of the prophecies have been attributed to past events, but many more are unaccounted for.

Dreams of The Sleeping Tower

The Tower has a collection of several hundred prophectic dreams in this three volume set collected throughout the Tower's seven hundred years. Critics of this collection claim that the wizards have attempted to force prophecy and such prophecies attained in this manner are inaccurate at best. Further advancing the critic's argument is the fact that not a single prophecy has been able to be accurately placed with an event. The Tower maintains, however, that its prophecies are meant to guide future generations. They do continue to look for correlations.

Call of the Howling Wolf and Sign of the Falling Star

The knowledge of past omens as well as the means to interpret future omens and visions is complied in the oral tradition of the Almec (The People of The Lord and Lady). Only shamans of the Whispering Spirit and the Howling Wolf are taught the sacred chants and prayers that contain the knowledge. All Almec are aware of the importance of omens, however, and any seemingly important omen or vision is reported to the tribe's shaman immediately. Shamans of the Whispering Spirit and the Howling Wolf are obeyed without question because their orders are usually given in response to a prophecy.
