Installing the Tongue

If you sculpt you dragon with its mouth open, you had better insert a tongue or it will not look very dramatic...here's how:

Shape a piece of Sculpey into a general tongue shape. You can make it long, short, blunt, or pointy. Test fit it into the lower jaw.

Use an appropriate texture stamp to detail the surface of the tongue. You can also smooth it out for a slicker effect.

Coat the surface of the back of the jaw, and press the tongue firmly into place.

Adjust the position and elevation of the tongue.

Press the upper jaw into the soft Sculpey to create a mating surface. Note that this will not permanently adhere the jaws together...you will need something stronger for that.

Here's a top view showing the depression that the upper jaw will fit into. Now bake the finished piece and we'll move on to the eyes.
