The monstruous menace called Carnage escaped Ravencroft Institute and made his way to New York
City where he injured the wife of Robbie Robertson in an elevator of the Daily Beagle bulding.
Despite the bounty on his head, Spider-Man went in search of Carnage and engaged him in battle until the unexpected arrival of the Silver Surfer. Strangely, upon seeing the Surfer, the Carnage symbiote fled the body of Cletus Cassady. The skyrider of the spaceways gave chase, leaving Spidey to tend to a shaken Cassidy. But then, the symbiote returned, having, apparently, taken over the body and mind of the Silver Surfer. Its only thoughts of destruction. |
With the invaluable assistence of the Master of the Mystic Arts - Dr. Strange, Spider-Man defeated the
arcane manace of Buel and the Technomancers.
But despite that important victory, the webspinner still has a million dollar bounty on his head placed there for the crime of murder... a crime he was framed for. Still, hoping for that what he has heard recently about the public's great fear of him is exaggerated, Spider-Man takes to the rooftops on a snowy Christmas Eve, tempting fate. |
Spider-Man and Paul Stacy (cousin of the late girlfriend of Peter, Gwen) were glued at the wrist as the attempted to flee for their persuers - the Shocker and the Trapster.
Suddenly, with Paul and the webspinner cornered, the two vilains received word from their employer, Donovan Zane, head of the mutant-hating sect called Friends of Humanity, that they were to back off and allow the trapped twosome to live. This order was given under the manace of Norman Osborn. With the super-villains' departure, Stacy and Spidey went they separate ways. |
Under the control of the voodoo priestess Calypso, Spider-Man and the newly returned Kraven the Hunter, that was discovered to be another son of the original Kraven, were hypnotcally commanded to kill each other.
But the webspinner was able to break the trance and bring the struggle to an end without the loss of life. Calypso and Kraven both desappeared into the night, leaving an exausted Spider-Man alone. Meanwhile, at Ravencroft Institute, Professor Jonas Mueller, lately in the employ of Norman Osborn, dispatched Sir to track down and capture the wall-crawler. Having accomplished the goal, Sir watches as the helpless webspinner is tormented. |
