Using the Dictionary

This dictionary is lengthy, so please be patient with it as it may take a while to load. To look up an entry alphabetically, click on a letter in the above menus. To return to this page from other parts of the dictionary, simply click on the word "help".

The following descriptions of word entries and abbreviations may be found of value:

Word entries:

The main entry is listed in bold type.

The part of speech is listed next in italics.

The equivalent meaning or meanings are then listed in plain format.

If an entry has meanings in more than one part of speech and the meanings change from one part of speech to another, they are listed separately under the main entry. For example:

If two or more entries are listed with superscript numbers (i.e., væch1), it indicates that the words have distinct derivations and are thus homonyms, not different parts of speech for the same word.

A superscript dagger symbol ( ) indicates that the word is a modern construction. It does not appear in the ancient (and therefore purest) form of the language, but is listed for the benefit of those wishing to carry on a "modern" conversation.

List of abbreviations:

adj. = adjective
adv. = adverb
conj. = conjunction
det. = determiner
int. = interjection
n. = noun
num. = numeral
prep. = preposition
pron. = pronoun
v. = verb

If you are unclear on parts of speech, please read through the grammar, which I think is pretty clear on defining them and how they are used.
