Mmele Mmele is a Traditional game played throughout Southern Africa. It is know by a different name in the different regions.
It is played with twenty four pieces (COWS). Each player has 12. The players take turns in placing the pieces on the board. Once all the pieces have been placed the players may then move the pieces form square to the other. Whenever a player gets three cows in a row then they may take one of the opponents. The winner is decided when one play has only two cows left: they are the loser.
Kgaswe hosted the World Championships on the 1st and 2nd of November. Unfortunately the attendance was not as good as was expected but it was still a very successful tournament. Pako Ketlhabanetswe came second and Naledi Willers came third in the junior section. Naledi was also the best place woman at the tournament. 2004 Inter-schools Mmele Tournament
