Lapis Lazuli, commonly referred to as just 'Lapis', is a beautiful stone, deep blue in colour, flecked with gold (pyrite) and often with white streaks (calcite). It is quite an expensive gemstone and has long been associated with royalty and with Deities, indeed it was thought that by carrying it you would possess the magical power of divinity. It is a wonderful stone to wear for ceremonial purposes.

As a stone for healing, Lapis is good for helping with emotional healing and releasing old memory patterns. It helps to lift your spirits and therefore helps with depression. It is also said to alleviate fevers and diseases of the blood, as well as strengthen the eye-sight when worn regularly. If sending distant healing to a friend, hold a piece of Lapis whilst visualising that person in full health, healed and whole - it is said to magnify the energy sent.

Lapis can be used in rituals to attract love and is also thought to encourage fidelity, so can be worn to strengthen the bond between lovers.

Lapis is most usually associated with increasing intuitiveness and psychic awareness, it aids with opening the third eye. It is used in meditation and can 'promote clarity of spiritual vision' and aid in communication with your guides and the higher realms. Wear Lapis every day to help increase your psychism - placing it on your third eye helps with visualisation and astral travel.

Lapis is also a protective stone, especially for children. In India Lapis Lazuli is strung onto gold wire and made into necklaces for children to wear, ensuring that they are always in good health and well protected. All in all it's got to be another 'must' for anyone's gem collection!
