SAFC is more than just a bookstore. In fact, that's why we are called the South Asian Friendship Center and Bookstore. Here's what services we offer:
- A bookstore: The South Asian Friendship Center & Bookstore offers Photocopying and Fax services, Christian Scriptures and literature, videos, and tapes in a variety of South Asian languages including English. In addition, the bookstore offers a unique collection of literature to help Hindus and Muslims investigate Christianity and literature for the Christian community to understand the religions of the South Asian community. SAFC has a lending library and video rental. There is always a helpful and friendly staff ready to help in any way.
- Language classes: The South Asian Friendship Center & Bookstore offers English as a Second Language (ESL) and South Asian language classes, designed to help immigrants and their families.
- Services for the community: The South Asian Friendship Center & Bookstore offers a variety of seminars addressing current issues faced by the immigrant community. These seminars include immigration, social services, raising children in a Western society, and much more. SAFC also offers a variety of programs to help the youth such as after school tutoring, youth activities, and a kids club. We even have a checkout for sports equipment and games for children when they visit the Center. There are activities for the women including our popular monthly women’s club and special outings.
- An outreach center: The South Asian Friendship Center & Bookstore located in the heart of the South Asian community creates opportunities to reach out to Hindus and Muslims through special events and interacting with the community.
A training center: The South Asian Friendship Center & Bookstore functions as a base from which Christians are encouraged and trained in ministry to the Hindu and Muslim community. SAFC is ideally location near four Christian colleges which seek cross-cultural experiences, so many of our volunteers come from these Christian institutions. The qualified SAFC staff is willing to hold seminars and training courses to help Christians learn to communicate the Christian message to its foreign neighbors, co-workers and vendors where they live.
