When a man hath taken a wife, and married her, and it come
to pass that she find no favour in his eyes, because he
hath found some uncleanness in her: then let him write her
a bill of divorcement, and give it in her hand, and send
her out of his house.
DEUTERONOMY
24:1
And when she is departed out of his
house, she may go and be another man's wife.
DEUTERONOMY 24:2
And if the
latter husband hate her, and write her a bill of
divorcement, and giveth it in her hand, and sendeth her out
of his house; or if the latter husband die, which took her
to be his wife;
DEUTERONOMY
24:3
Her former husband, which sent her
away, may not take her again to be his wife, after that she
is defiled; for that is abomination before the LORD: and
thou shalt not cause the land to sin, which the LORD thy
God giveth thee for an inheritance.
DEUTERONOMY
24:4
They say, If a man put away his wife, and she go from him, and become another man's, shall he return unto her again? shall not that land be greatly polluted? but thou hast played the harlot with many lovers; yet return again to me, saith the LORD.
JEREMIAH 3:1
Yet ye say, Wherefore? Because the LORD
hath been witness between thee and the wife of thy youth,
against whom thou hast dealt treacherously: yet is she thy
companion, and the wife of thy covenant.
MALACHI 2:14
And did not he make
one? Yet had he the residue of the spirit. And wherefore
one? That he might seek a godly seed. Therefore take heed
to your spirit, and let none deal treacherously against the
wife of his youth.
MALACHI
2:15
For the LORD, the God of Israel, saith
that he hateth putting away ["I hate divorce," says the
Lord God of Israel," - NIV]: for one covereth violence with
his garment, saith the LORD of hosts: therefore take heed
to your spirit, that ye deal not treacherously.
MALACHI 2:16
Ye have wearied the
LORD with your words. Yet ye say, Wherein have we wearied
him? When ye say, Every one that doeth evil is good in the
sight of the LORD, and he delighteth in them; or, Where is
the God of judgment?

put away his wife, let him give her a writing of

adultery: and whosoever shall marry her that is divorced
committeth adultery.

female,

And said, For this cause shall a man
leave father and mother, and shall cleave to his wife: and
they twain shall be one flesh?
MATTHEW
19:5
Wherefore they are no more twain, but
one flesh. What therefore God hath joined together, let not
man put asunder.
MATTHEW
19:6
They say unto him, Why did Moses then command to give a
writing of divorcement, and to put her
away?

which is put away doth commit adultery.

so with his wife, it is not good to
marry.

All men cannot receive this saying,
save they to whom it is given.

for a man to put away his wife? tempting
him.

asunder.

matter.

and marry another, committeth adultery against her.

to another, she committeth adultery.

marrieth another, committeth adultery: and whosoever
marrieth her that is put away from her husband committeth
adultery.
LUKE 16:18
To the married I give this command (not I, but the Lord): A
wife must not separate from her husband.
1
CORINTHIANS 7:10
But if she does, she must remain unmarried or else be
reconciled to her husband. And a husband must not divorce
his wife.
1 CORINTHIANS 7:11
To the rest I say this (I, not the Lord): If any brother
has a wife who is not a believer and she is willing to live
with him, he must not divorce her.
1
CORINTHIANS 7:12
And if a woman has a husband who is not a believer and he
is willing to live with her, she must not divorce him.
1 CORINTHIANS 7:13
For the unbelieving husband has been sanctified through his
wife, and the unbelieving wife has been sanctified through
her believing husband. Otherwise your children would be
unclean, but as it is, they are holy.
1
CORINTHIANS 7:14
But if the unbeliever leaves, let him do so. A believing
man or woman is not bound in such circumstances; God has
called us to live in peace.
1 CORINTHIANS
7:15
How do you know, wife, whether you will save your husband?
Or, how do you know, husband, whether you will save your
wife?
1 CORINTHIANS 7:16
Nevertheless, each one should retain the place in life that
the Lord assigned to him and to which God has called him.
This is the rule I lay down in all the
churches.
1 CORINTHIANS 7:17
The wife is bound by the law as
long as her husband liveth; but if her husband be dead, she
is at liberty to be married to whom she will; only in the
Lord.
