The Oral Sins
"Cry aloud, spare not, lift up your voice like a trumpet and show my people their transgressions and . . . their sins." Isa. 58:1
Whatdaya mean, "Sin"?"Sin is the transgression of the law"(1 Jn. 3:4). It is the thing for which, if we do not repent, we shall die (Eze. 18:4, 20). This is according to God and Christ, whose opinions are the only ones which really matter, since they are the only ones who can forgive sin (Mat. 6:9-15; 9:2-8), and give us eternal life (Jn. 10:25-30). Men and church organizations cannot give us eternal life, therefore their opinions should be valued accordingly.
Whatdaya mean, "law"?
God's law is "love" which includes love toward God and love toward our fellow man (Lk. 10:25-28).
Love toward God means: loving him above all others and above all things; worshiping, venerating and respecting him instead of physical things (or living people, or dead people, images or likenesses); using God's name respectfully and Christ's name truthfully (as in "Christian"); and properly observing his day of physical "rest" to show respect toward him and his offer of eternal "rest" as spirit beings.
Love toward our fellow man means giving honor to our parents in words and deeds; allowing others to live in peace; being faithful to our wife/husband; allowing others to enjoy their property in peace; being truthful to others; and being satisfied with what we have.Sound vaguely familiar? It's the Ten Commandments. Did Christ "do away with" or "fulfill (into oblivion)" those ten Old Testament Laws? Only if he "did away with" or "fulfilled into oblivion" the law of love which, if he did, would mean that we are free to worship things and steal things, to rape, curse and kill anyone including our parents, to lie about it, to curse God and still expect him to reward us with eternal life in his kingdom.
If we truly want to be like God and Christ, why would we spend so much effort at finding loopholes in their law? God is love (1 Jn. 4:8, 16). God's law is love (Rom. 13:10; Gal. 5:14). There is a vast difference between being Holy and being full of holes.
Whadaya mean, "is"?
If we don't want to "keep" the law, and we can't prove that the law was "done away" with, then the next best thing is to attempt to reason around it. Some favorites are "It doesn't apply to me.", and "It depends on how you define . . . ". Actually, these are forms of lying to ourselves and to others. It's called "denial".
The subjects of sinning and lying have much in common. No one wants to admit how much or how often they lie. No one wants to admit that they commit sins. So we "deny, deny, deny."
Denial has always been an art form. Cain started with, "It's not my day to watch him." (regarding the murder of his brother Abel).
After about 6,000 years, denial is still prominent in our world:
"[I]t depends on how you define "alone" ... there were a lot of times when we were alone, but I never really thought we were."
"It depends on what the meaning of the word 'is' is".

Man's Definitions of Sin:If anyone could define sin, it should be those who are in the business of religion. Can they? Do they?
(See how the Catholics, Anglicans, Episcopalians, Lutherans, Baptists, Methodists, SDA's, Mormons and Jehovah's Witnesses define sin.) Go here.
God's Definition of Sin:"Sin is the transgression of the law"(1 Jn. 3:4).
"For this you know, that no [one who commits these sins] has any part in the kingdom of Christ and of God." Eph. 5:5.What about "Church traditions", decisions of "doctrinal committees", and the "opinions of Church fathers" and all of man's other definitions as referenced above? Don't "holy men" have the authority to change the rules?
Restrictions on God's Definition:
"You shall not add unto the word which I command you, neither shall you diminish [anything] from it, that you may keep the commandments of the Lord your God which I command you." (Deu 4:2).
"For I testify unto every man that hears the words of the prophecy of this book, If any man shall add unto these things, God shall add unto him the plagues that are written in this book:
And if any man shall take away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part out of the book of life, and out of the holy city, and from the things which are written in this book." (Rev 22:18-19).
Well, so much for "opinions", "traditions" and "official proclamations". But then, Christ already addressed this the first time he was here.
"But he answered and said unto them, Why do you also transgress the commandment of God by your tradition? (Mat 15:3).
" . . . Thus have you made the commandment of God of none effect by your tradition." (Mat 15:6).
"For laying aside the commandment of God, you hold the tradition of men, as the washing of pots and cups: and many other such like things you do.
And he said unto them, Full well you reject the commandment of God, that you may keep your own tradition." (Mar 7:8-9).
"Making the word of God of none effect through your tradition, which you have delivered: and many such like things do you." (Mar 7:13).
Even during the lifetime of the apostle Paul, alternative variations on God's laws were being promoted -- variations through philosophical reasoning, intellectual vanity, human ("church") "traditions", world(ly) or "mainstream religious thought", none of which were from Christ.
"Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ." (Col 2:8).
All The Sins:(according to scripture) (coming)
Lists of sins are given in several scriptures. Adultery and fornication are at the top of several lists and seem to be the most popular along with idolatry, which is very popular but largely unrecognized as such. What about drinking, dancing and partying? Didn't Christ do it? What about gossip and little white lies which everyone tells, including priests, preachers and rabbis? How much of your life is described in these lists? Click here.
All The Sins (an index): (Follow the links to see who's doing what and how often.)
All the sins overlap one another. Lust equals adultery (Mat. 5:27-28) which equals stealing (1 Cor. 7:4). Adultery usually involves lying. Idolatry equals hatred (Ex. 20:5-6) which equals murder (Mat. 5:21-22). Hatred of others equals hatred of God (1 Jn. 4:20). Since the thought equals the act (Mat. 5:21-22, 27-28), covetousness equals theft.
Rebellion (Heb. 4805, bitterness) equals witchcraft (Heb. 7081, psychic divination, incl. fees) and stubbornness [Heb. 6484, refusing to obey] equals both iniquity [Heb. 205, useless exertion] and idolatry (Heb. 8655, worship of a "healing" idol) (1 Sam. 15:23).While no sin is truly separate from another, they do lend themselves to certain groupings.
1. The Sex Sins: Adultery, Fornication, Lust
2. The Angry Sins: Hate and Murder
3. The Chemical Sins: Drunkenness, Drug Abuse, Tobacco4.
