REVOLUTION

Chapter 1 - Part B

Curious, Gatrinis looked at Moore, asking, “What do you suppose that was about?”

Quietly, Moore replied, “I have no clue, Gatri. Why ask me?”

“Well why not, you’d have as much of a clue as I would.”

Sounding a little uneasy, she said, “Well I don’t, okay?”

Standing quietly in the turbolift for a second, the Rigellian decided to pry at her thoughts, which had been a bit more guarded then usual in the past weeks. “Kate, are you alright?”

Turning, she looked at her teammate with an incredulous look. “What? What’s that suppose to mean?”

As she finished her words, the turbolift reached it’s destination. Moore quickly strode off the lift and towards their barracks.

Gatrinis quickly called out to her to stop and wait for him, which she did. Stepping out and up to her, he said, “By the Great Sun Above, I haven’t seen you this prickly in ages.”

Fuming, she crossed her arms and coolly peered up at her towering friend.

“Yes, I do have a point, Kate. You haven’t been your old self in weeks. You seem okay, then you aren’t. I’m used to you being difficult and a pain, but how about the rest of the team? They don’t know what to make of you. Frankly, you’re more moody then I’ve seen you in a long while. And then theirs this growing reclusiveness. I’ve been trying to stay out of this and let you work this thing out, but you’re starting to worry me.”

Moore opened her mouth to try to express her inner feelings, but feel silent. She shook her head and turned back towards the barracks, saying, “Gatri, I’ll be fine.”

Trying to gently put his hand on her shoulder, he earnestly said, “I hope so kid, I don’t like seeing you hurting. Promise me you’ll tell me if theirs anything I can do.”

Moore quietly patted his hand and said, “I promise.”

“Then I’ll let you be. I’m going to go practice on the target range, can’t be too careful after all. Want to join me?”

Shaking her head, she said, “Not right now.” Leaving him, she stepped up and waited for the barracks doors to open and entered. Once inside she untied her curly blonde hair and pulled her jacket off. Tossing it on her bunk, she took a chair at a nearby console and activated the communications screen.
