Molecules of Life

Science and medicine use multimedia technology in both the classroom and patient education programs. Various CD-ROM products are available providing new avenues for the continuing education of healthcare providers, as well as patients. For example, a CD-ROM entitled Molecules of Life allows students to study molecular structures through interactive animation, simulations, drills, and tutorials. While this modality is, of course, not a substitute for traditional classroom and practical provider-patient experiences, it does enhance the learning experience. Medical practitioners successfully use multimedia in patient education programs, such as diabetes management, smoking cessation, and stress management.
