737. Joseph A. Buckalew. Born about 1796. Joseph A. died on 8 October 1856; he was 60.

Conjecture: That Joseph is grandson of Frederick P. (Phredrick) Buckalew, b. 1692 Perth Amboy, Middlesex Co., NJ.

On 21 January 1819 when Joseph A. was 23, he married Nancy Ann Valentine, daughter of William Valentine & Hanna, in Monmouth Co., NJ. Born in 1802. Nancy Ann died in Imlaystown, NJ, on 29 Feb 1881; she was 79. Buried in Imlays Hill, NJ.

Another source has Nancy Ann's date of death as 28 Feb 1884.

738. Caleb Buckalew , Sr. Born on 21 March 1800 in Jamesburg, Middlesex Co., NJ. Caleb died in Colliers Mill, Monmouth (Ocean) Co., NJ, on 10 February 1886; he was 85. Buried in Imlays Hill, NJ.

Much of the information on Caleb and his descendants was contributed by Donna Smith.

Donna said, "...Caleb, Sr.'s, death certificate states his father was John Bucklew and his mother was Rachael."

I have in my family tree that this Joesph could be the oldest child of John
& Rachel Buck_lew. He has the following siblings:
Joesph (himself)
Caleb b.1800 Mar 21 also married a Valentine (Mary) 1824, Feb 7
Samuel
Elizabeth
William
David
Jane

My Caleb was born in Jamesburg, Burlington County and Died in Colliers Mills
, Ocean County.

I would love to make that connection its the right time frame and the right
location!!!!!

Joseph and Nancy are perhaps the parents of Josiah Buckalew, b. 1820 in
Colliers Mill, Ocean Co.(then Monmouth Co.), NJ. Josiah married Abigail
Johens (Johns or Jones?) 18 Apr 1840. Abigail was born in Trenton, NJ. They
moved to Alexander Township, Benton Co., Missouri (MO) in 1887. Josiah died
24 May 1899 and Abigail died 5 April 1900 in Wheatland, MO.

1999, 17 July, Ltr from Alfreida Buckalew Heavener: "In some notes written by my grandmother Rebecca A. Dennis Buckalew she uses the spelling of Johens." (Reference to Abigail Johens, wife of Josiah Buckalew.) "We also have a date of 6 May 1840 in addition to the 18 Apr date." (Reference to Abigail's and Josiah's date of marriage.) "I notice a reference to 'State Gazette of May 8, 1840, p. 3' on my brother's data sheet."

On 7 February 1824 when Caleb was 23, he married Mary Valentine. Born on 21 August 1804. Mary died on 20 January 1869; she was 64.

Samuel A. married Ann Elizabeth.

740. Elizabeth Buckalew. Born about 1796. Elizabeth died on 8 May 1874; she was 78. Buried in Imlays Hill, NJ.

On 19 February 1820 when Elizabeth was 24, she married Zachariah Dancer.

741. William Buckalew. Born on 1 November 1806.

Another source has William's birth year as 1809.

On 26 February 1831 when William was 24, he married Rachel Cook. Born in 1814. Rachel died in March 1885; she was 71.
