1976, June 24: Daughter Elizabeth Daisy Fizer Lamar wrote a family history in which she referred to her mother as "Bachia Elizabeth Fairfax"

The above information and much, if not most, of the descendant information for Abasha Elizabeth, including especially that for Cloyd Elijah Fizer, in this file was provided by Carolyn Graham.

Abasha Elizabeth (Bucklew) married John Vankirk Fizer, son of Jacob Fizer (about 1806-about 1860) & Mariah Parpenberger (about 1810-). Born in 1844 in NC or Gettysburg, PA (?). John Vankirk died in Kingwood, Preston Co. WV, on 8 October 1927; he was 83. Buried in Maplewood Cem., Kingwood, Preston Co. WV.

Judy Fizer reported in 1999 that Elizabeth Daisy Fizer Lamar stated in 1976 that "John Vankirk Fizer's parents -- unknown, but are buried at Kingwood Cemetery, WV. The cemetery may be named Maplewood. She is not clear on this.

Mil. Svc.:: From Military History Chapter of the "History of Preston County," page 304: Private in the 3rd Regiment of the WV Cavalry, Company C, organized at Brandonville 01 Oct 1861. Stationed at Clarksburg and New Creek for a time. The commanding officer of the division, in his congratulatory order of 09 April 1865, said "You have never lost a gun, never lost a color, and have never been defeated."

A memory of Kathleen Fizer Smith, daughter of William Scott Fizer: "Evidently there was a popular cigar called 'Five Brothers' Cigar' in their era, and with five brothers in this Fizer family, they were known as the "Five Brothers" around the Preston County area. Another memory she had is that "one of the brothers got in a fight one night and someone was killed and one brother had to leave the state and never got to return home."
