On 29 November 1831 when Abraham was 21, he married Susan Rogers.

1473. Sarah Ann Raley. Born on 11 February 1812.

Sarah Ann married Berry Robinson.

1866: Living in Mississippi.

1474. Nancy Raley. Born on 29 March 1813.

1866: Living in Arkansas.

Nancy first married Davidson Kitts.

Nancy second married Raiford O'neal.

1475. Jason Raley. Born on 17 February 1815.

1476. James Raley. Born on 17 February 1815 in TN.

1850 Marengo Co., AL; Census, House #660: James, wife Frances J., and seven children--Martha J., Mary E., James T. , Sarha A., Henry C., Wm L., Jeremiah T. James as a farmer born in TN; wife, Frances, and all children born in AL.

In the same census: Green Raley in house #656, Charles Raley in house #657, Ezekiel Buckaloo in house #658.

1866: Living in Louisana.

Jack's conjecture: The following are children of Abraham and Sarah Raley--Mary who married Zebulon Buckalew, Charles who married Sarah Buckalew, Samuel, and James who married Frances.

I think that James was more probably the son of Charles Raley.

On 20 November 1834 when James was 19, he first married Frances J. Tucker. Born in 1818 in AL. Frances J. died in Columbus Co., AR, in 1889; she was 71.

They had the following children:

1477. Zebulon Raley. Born on 17 January 1817.

1866: Living in Arkansas.

Zebulon married Anney O'neal.

1478. Williamson Raley. Born on 3 December 1819.

On 22 April 1841 when Williamson was 21, he married Christian O'neal.

They had the following children:

1479. Martha Raley. Born on 30 October 1821.

On 4 November 1850 when Martha was 29, she married Zedekiah Barkley.

1480. Green Raley. Born on 9 November 1823 in MS.

Green married Mary A. R.. Born about 1824 in NC.

They had the following children:

1481. Harriett Raley. Born on 14 August 1825.

On 6 March 1842 when Harriett was 16, she married Jacob Sherry.

1482. Jackson Raley. Born on 12 April 1827.

1860 Marengo Co., AL, Census: "Same neighborhood (with Charles Raley) had Jackson Raley 33 b MS, Sarah E. 29 b AL, Harriett ??? 26 b AL, David L 9 b AL. This indicates that Charles and Sarah were in MS in 1827 when Jackson was born. This was the time that a Charles Raley was in Green County, MS. Must be the same one."

1862, Dec 29; Marengo Co., AL, Deed Bk "T," p.16: Emily Y. Green sells 20 acres to Jackson Raley for $500 in R 4E, Twp 13, Sec 8. Signed by Emily with mark. (Jack's note: Jackson is son of Charles and Sarah Buckelew Raley...).

Jackson married Sara E. Agee.

1483. Eliza Raley. Born on 10 December 1828.

On 5 March 1847 when Eliza was 18, she married Barnett N. / M. (?) Green, son of James Green.

1860, May 22; Marengo Co., AL, Deed Bk "S," p. 523: Barnet Green and wife, Eliza, sell 41 acres in R 4E, Twp 13, Sec 29 to Joel M. Pope. Signed with marks by Barnet and Eliza.

1484. Elizabeth Raley. Born on 17 May 1830.

On 14 August 1849 when Elizabeth was 19, she married George W. Barkley.

1810-13, Lancaster Co., SC: Court of Common Pleas Proceedings: Five documents were found pertaining to the case of John & Robert BARKLEY, Adm. of Robert BARKLEY, dec'd. vs Richard Buckelew.
(A) Original Promissoray Nore: "On or Before the twenty-first day of December next, We or Either of Us promise to pay John and Robert BARKLEY, administrators of Robert BARKLEY, decd, on their order the Sum of One Hundred and four Dollars -- for Value Recd this 21st day of December 1810. [signed] Thomas H. Wade, Richard Buckelew" Wit by Thomas Lee. From copy of the original note.

(B) Declaration of Note: This was a printed form, with the blanks filled in and was filed by Williams, attorney for the BARKLEYS. In summary, it stated Richard Buckelew had signed the promissory note, promising to pay the debt on 21 Dec 1811; that he failed to pay; therefore they had been damaged to the tune of $200.

(C) Summons: The sheriff was to "attach the body of Richard Buckelow" and compel him to appear before the Court of Common Pleas on the 2nd Mon after the 4th Mon in Oct 1812 to answer the case against him. Jn. Simpson, Clerk. On the reverse side of the summons, in Simpson's handwriting was, " I accept the ?price of this writ for November term 1812. 8th October 1812 Richard (his X mark) Buckelow. Witness Tho. Williams Jr."

(D) Judgment: The 5 May 1813 decree stated Richard Buckelow had not complied with the terms of the promissory note of 1810, and that the


1826, Jan, Lancaster Co., SC, Deed: Richard (signed name) Buckalew, Jr., planter, to John E. Sanderson, school master, both of Lancaster Dist., for $475 - 148 (sic) acres running, in part, along the great road leading from the upper country to Camden. The land had been sold by William BARKLEY, kEsq., to henry Shaver on 13 July 1813; by shaver to James Buckalew on 12 Dec 1815 & by James Buckalew to Richard Buckalew. Wit: A (signed name) Buckelew & Richard (signed name) Buckelew, SR. Ack by Abner Buckelew on 6 Feb 1826 before Jno M. ?Kenzie, ?RMC. Old Serfies, Book L, p 229. (From p. 251, Mary's People--The Buckelews)BARKLEYS were entitled to recover the original sum of $104 pllus $20.92 for costs and charges.

(E) Writ: In Apr 1813, the sheriff was ordered to levy the sum of $104, plus interest & charges, against the goods & chattels, houses, lands & other hereditaments & real estate of Richard Buckelow. The money was to be taken to the Court of Common Pleas on the 2nd Mon after the 4th Mon in Oct 1813. On the reverse side of the write were the following notations: (1) "I have legally advertised the within Property but for lack of bidders I have not made the money as within enumerated 2nd Aug 1811 Wm. ?Hower" & (2) "Returned and Levied on the Plantation where the Defendt. now lives as his property ?on the Suit of Admrs. of Robert BARKLEY Decd. 13 July 1813 Wm ?Houie." From copies of the originals found in the Roll originally numbered 28 & apparently, renumbered R 439, B 14.(From Buckelew Traces #1, p 391)

1837-1858, Marengo Co., AL: Numerous legal actions before George BARKLEY as Justice of The Peace. The actions involves Ezekiel "Buckalow [also 'Buckerlow'] and wife, Rachell; William H. Buckalew; and Jonathan Buckalew and wife, Mary. (From Buckelew Traces #7-8, pp 701-2)

1485. Emeline E. Raley. Born on 11 March 1833 in AL. Nickname: Emily.

On 27 June 1854 when Emeline E. was 21, she married James J. Green, son of James Green.

1858, 13 Sep; Clarke Co., AL; Deed Bk H pp380-81: James Green and wife Emiline E. Green 39 acres in S 18, R 3E to David Matthews.

1868, 4 Nov; Clarke Co., AL; Deed Bk M p80: James J. Green and wife Emeline El. Green sell 50 acres in S 2, T 8, R 3E, to Samuel R. McClure.

1872, 19 Jan; Clarke Co., AL; Deed Bk 17 p390: James J. Green and wife Emily sell 40 acres in S 25, R 3E for $144 to George W. Stephens.
