Dear Les,

Thanks for the follow-up. I recall my mother, Martha B. (Gray) Crosswhite, talking about Buckalews when I was a child. Mother's father was Benagy Burton Gray (my name came from him) and his father was William V. Gray who married Caroline S. Kersh in Rankin Co., MS in July 1855.

Your information might help me over a hurdle I have only been able to approach thus far, because it could indicate what I have suspected for a while now but have not been able to prove. That is that the Grays went to MS from AL and probably there from SC - as did the Kershs. I'm sure you will notice that the Buckalews married into both the Gray and Kersh family.

Sarah Gray, who married your Kenyon Buckalew, could well be a sibling, and if not, possibly a cousin, of my gt. grandfather William V. Gray. I have no idea who his parents and siblings were.

I really appreciate you taking the time to write, and I hope if you should find anything more on Sarah Gray you will keep me in mind.
