Family of John B. Casseday (952) & Ida Freeland

1954. Ercil Freeland Casseday.

Only six months old when his mother Ida died. He was raised by his Grandpa John M. Freeland and his second wife, Mary Casseday. John M. and Mary had no children of their own. (Preston County History, 1979, submitted by Katherine P. Crane)

Ercil was a teacher in Terra Alta High School in 1925, per Betty White's book, and served as principal for sixteen years. His picture as principal in 1946-1947, is included in the White book.

Ercil Freeland married Hilda Vivian Pentony, daughter of William Pentony & Irma Ashby.
