Obituary: "IRA BUCKALEW, 99-YEAR-OLD CITIZEN, DIES...

"Funeral services for Ira Buckalew, age 99, were held in the Chapel of the Pace-Stancil Funeral Home in Cleveland, Tuesday, afternoon at 3 p.m.

"Rev. Kenneth Kelly of Conroe officiated with interment in the Liberty Hill Cemetery.

"Mr. Buckalew is survived by five children: Mrs. Lucy Boutwell of Meridian, Miss., Mrs. jenny Carlisle of Shepherd, Mrs. Mattie Fuller, Big Spring, Mr. Dosey Buckalew, Conroe, and Mr. G. W. Buckalew of Livingston. Also 18 grandchildren and seven great-great-grandchildren."

On 20 September 1888 when Ira was 24, he married Mary Lucretia Hayman, daughter of George W. Hayman & Sarah Carmichael, in Shepherd, TX. Born on 6 September 1871 in Clarke Co., MS. Mary Lucretia died in Shepherd, TX, on 12 January 1949; she was 77. Buried in Liberty Hill Cem, San Jacinto Co., TX.
