3037. John William Baty. Born in 1855 in Putnam Co., MO. John William died in Monroe Co., MO, on 2 September 1899; he was 44.
John William Baty, son of Sarah Buckaloo and William H. Baty, seems to have lead a rather interesting life as a youngster, judging from the stories he later told his son, and namesake (p. 458, Buckelew Traces, Issue 3). The picture of john and Rosa Weese Baty (p.462) is supposed to have been their wedding portrait--thus would have been taken in Adair County, MO, in the spring of 1879. On 29 April 1879 when John William was 24, he married Rosa Weese, in Adair Co., MO. Born on 24 September 1860 in Mahaska CO, IA. Rosa died in Linn Co., MO, on 27 March 1924; she was 63.
3038. Nancy Ann Baty. Born on 26 December 1858 in Putnam Co., MO. Nancy Ann died in Beatrice, Cage Co., NE, on 27 May 1938; she was 79. Buried in Evergreen Home C, Beatrice, Cage Co., NE.
Nancy and her brother, John (photo on p. 462, Buckelew Traces, Issue 3), apparently did not grow up on the typical family farm as did most people of their generation. It looks as if their father, William H. Baty, may have been one of the first traveling salesmen in America--only he took his wife, Sara (Buckaloo) with him! The photo on p. 461 of Buckelew Traces, Issue 3, of Nancy and her husband, John Burks, was taken, it appears, in Montana, date or reason why they were there, unknown. The Burks' charts are on p. 469.
1938, Gage Co., Nebraska; Obituary: Concerning the death of Nancy Baty Burks (dau. of William & Sarah Bucheleugh Baty, who was born in 1859. In 1879, a year after her marriage, she and her husband moved to a farm east of Beatrice, NE, where they had live until their deaths.
On 18 August 1878 when Nancy Ann was 19, she married John W. Burks, in Unionville, Putnam Co., MO. Born on 4 March 1839 in IA. John W. died in Beatrice, Cage Co., NE, in 1944; he was 104. Buried in Evergreen Home C, Beatrice, Cage Co., NE.
