On 3 March 1864 when Sarah Ellen was 22, she married Daniel H. Young, in Chester, PA.

Lewis Benjamin married Mary Phillips. Born about 1848 in PA.

Mil. Svc.:: The Family Bible states that he was in the Army and died of wounds in the hospital.

In the United States General Hospital at Chester, on the 14th inst., of a wound received in the Battle of ChapinFarm, on the 29th of September, SAMUEL H. CHRISTY, in the eighteenth year of his age. The friends of the family are invited to attend his funeral, from the residence of his parents, in Upland, on Saturday (tomorrow) at 10 o, A.M. Funeral to proceed to the Methodist Church, at HinksonCorner.

Death Notice In the United States General Hospital at Chester, on the 14th inst. of a wound received in the Battle of ChapinFarm, on the 29th of September, SAMUEL H. CHRISTY, in the eighteenth year of his age
ChapinFarm is actually Chaffin?s Farm. The battle of Chaffin?s Farm at New Market Heights in Henrico County, Virginia, was part of the Richmond ? Petersburg campaign which began in June 1864 and lasted till March 1865.
The Principal Commanders in the campaign were Major General Benjamin Butler of the Union Army, General Robert E. Lee and Lieutenant General Richard S. Ewell both of the Confederate Army.
The battle itself raged from 29 September 1864 through 30 September 1864. During the night of September 28 ? 29, Maj. Gen. Butler?s Army of the James crossed the James River for an assault on the Richmond defenses north of the river. They attacked at dawn, but the Confederates contained the breakthrough. This allowed other units to overtake Fort Harrison that same day. General Lee then reinforced his lines north of the river, and on September 30, counterattacked unsuccessfully. General Grant, who had a siege of Petersburg, anticipated General Lee shifting his troops to defend Richmond. This weakened his lines at Petersburg, helping Grant to be
successful. The battle claimed 4,430 casualties, including the death of Union General Burnham. The battle itself was declared a Union Victory.
As stated previously, was regular Army. At a very young age, Samuel became part of the 3rd Artillery, 152nd Penna. Regiment. The regiment formed in April 1863 became so large that the government decided to form a new regiment. Volunteers were asked to serve, so on 30 December 1863, Samuel volunteered to be a part of Company G, 3rd Heavy Artillery, F Company, 188th Penna. Infantry Regiment. This regiment, following the battle of
Chaffins Farm, captured Fort Harrison in Henrico County, Virginia. The regiment was so well trained, that they were able to take the Confederate Artillery and turn it against them. By this time, I?m sure Samuel had suffered his wounds as the regiment had to cross a large open field to take the fort. Out of the entire 188th Regiment, 10 officers, and 114 men died
as a result of wounds.
