Subject: 2005-2006 Band Trip
** High Priority **

The 2005-2006 Spring Trip for The Colony Band has been approved by LISD.
As you know, due to Hurricane Katrina and the change in the site of the Sugar Bowl, the original trip plans had to change. I am pleased to announce that The Colony Band's newly approved trip will be to Washington DC.
The three high school concert bands will travel to Washington DC April 27-30 for performances at the Heritage Festival, masterclasses with members of the United States Marine Band (tentative), and site seeing in our nation's capital.
The trip cost falls within our original travel budget of $600.00/student. More details will follow, however a tentative itinerary follows:
Thursday, 27 April
Early Morning - Depart DFW via American Airlines
Late Morning - Arrive Washington DC/check-in to hotel
Afternoon - Site seeing
Evening - Rehearsals
Friday, 28 April
AM - Masterclasses with USMB/Rehearsal
PM - Site seeing
Saturday, 29 April
AM - Heritage Festival performances
Afternoon - Site seeing
Evening - Awards Banquet/Dinner/Dance
Sunday, 30 April
AM - Site seeing and/or church
PM - Pack and Depart for home
Stay tuned for further details (including intent to travel/commitment forms).
Sincerely,
Dr. White

Subject: Volunteering
** High Priority **
Posted 9/26/2005 at 11:38 AM
Dear Parents,
This is a clarification email concerning how volunteering works with The Colony Band.
- All parent volunteers are selected from the volunteer list that was collected at band registration in July.
- Any parents desiring to volunteer (chuck wagon, concessions, chaperones, uniforms, etc.), must be on the volunteer list and must complete a criminal history check through LISD.
- Contact Judy Dyess at judy5867@hotmail.com to inquire about getting on the volunteer list.
We have several volunteer areas (namely chaperones and chuck wagon) who coordinate their volunteers well in advance of any event. Please note that you may not be asked to volunteer every time.
While I appreciate the many parents who have shown up on the "spur of the moment", we actually do a great deal of pre-planning and are not equipped to accomodate parent volunteers who are not on the "list" for that event. Please contact the volunteer coordinator prior to any event if you have questions. Just an FYI, the only parent volunteers who are eligible to travel into events with students (without paying admission) are official chaperones and pit personnel.
The Colony Band would not be able to succeed without the tremendous volunteer effort from our parents. I, along with the rest of the staff and TCBBC board, sincerely appreciate your countless hours of hard work and dedication.
Sincerely,
Dr. White
Subject: 2005-2006 Band Fee Structure and Payment Schedule
Importance: High
** High Priority **
Posted 5/9/2005 at 11:33:59 AM
Dear Parents,
Attached is the 2005-2006 Band Fee Structure PDF file. Please note that the
largest portion of next year's fees are for the proposed out-of-state
trip. Every effort is made to keep fees within reasonable parameters,
therefore substantial fundraising will need to take place to meet our
budget needs. I encourage all parents to volunteer their efforts for
Booster fundraising efforts (ie., concession stand, etc.).
Should you have any questions, please don't hesitate to contact me.
Sincerely,
Dr. White
