Abortion Rights

It is a statement of fact that bishops, priests and other clergy have more influence on the population than the average citizen joe nobody. That is to say, that when a member of the clergy says that a certain law ought to be (or not be) or begins to follow a certain course of action, more people will believe and follow him or her than will believe and follow joe nobody. When a member of the clergy makes political statements more people will believe him or her than will believe joe nobody.

Because of this, the clergy of the Mother Church need to be very prudent and vigilant in what they say and do publicly. For if what they are saying and doing should be found to be in violation of even some obscure, unknown law then they could be cutting down a tree and leading their flocks astray. They could be chipping away at the mountain of faith that God has built for His children.

Further, because the clergy have more influence upon the voting populace as a whole than joe nobody, it is possible that they could be found to be in violation of the Fourteenth Amendment, which offers equal protection of the laws to everyone.

Thus, it is far better for the clergy of the Mother Church to remain completely silent in those areas where they may have influence on any policy of the government or laws that the government may or may not pass, than to speak out against (or for) those policies and laws and then have the Mother Church found to be in violation of the law.

Many Christians believe the U.S. Supreme Court was wrong to legalize abortion. The bishops of the Catholic Church are using their positions of authority to try and influence the state into reversing that decision and thus make abortion illegal. This is tantamount to forcing everyone into obeying Roman Catholic law.

They claim that they are trying to save the lives of unborn children. This might be true. But no matter what their stated reason and no matter what their intentions, it is still Roman Catholic law that they are attempting to force everyone to obey. This is a violation of the First Amendment to the U.S. Constitution.

The bishops are cutting down a small tree in order to prevent Satan from killing innocent babies, and they will have no law to protect them years from now, after they have cut down all the trees, and the godless introduce legislation to outlaw Catholicism.

Anyone who does not believe that such is the ultimate goal of Satan is a blind guide. One knows that the outlawing Catholicism is Satan’s goal because this has been his goal from Her beginning. Since the aborted baby goes straight to God, whether it is murdered in an illegal abortion or a legal abortion, and since Satan is in the business of taking souls away from God, then that evil wretch must have an ulterior motive for legalizing abortion.

Logic and an ounce of forethought tell one that his goal in legalizing abortion was to get at the Catholic Church. Thus our Lord’s Catholic Church should not be trying to influence legal or illegal abortion or any law that Caesar should make.

Unlike the Mother Church, the state has the duty to protect the civil rights of everyone, both church members and non-church members. Therefore, in those areas where the Church and state come into conflict, the state has jurisdiction over the Catholic Church.

Although many may disagree with this, the truth of it is confirmed by the fact that no one wants a member of another church or a member of another religion to use their religious beliefs to influence the making of laws that everyone must obey, and thus causing everyone or forcing everyone to follow a philosophy or faith that they do not wish to follow.

For example, what Roman Catholic wants a member of a Demonic cult influencing legislation that would ultimately force everyone to worship Satan? Then neither should the clergy of the Catholic Church try to influence legislation that would ultimately force everyone to obey the laws of the Catholic Church. This is true even if such legislation is saving lives.

The Catholic Church must protect the souls of Her children. She cannot oppose the state in any laws – just or unjust – that it may make. Although She has no authority to condemn unjust laws, neither does She have to endorse these laws. The Mother Church must remain completely silent on any law that Caesar makes which She perceives to be a violation of God’s law. The Roman Catholic Church must teach religious truth.

The only time the Mother Church has the right, the duty and the moral obligation to oppose the state is when the state tries to prevent Her from administering the eight sacraments. (Teaching the word of God is the eighth sacrament, for it is of the seven.) Even when She does oppose the government, She must use peaceful means and the courts to do so.

Therefore, the Supreme Court or any government representative body can make any decision it wants to or govern the state in any manner it so chooses and the Mother Church cannot object to this. She must render unto Caesar that which is Caesar’s and to God that which is God’s. As did Her Lord before Her, (Mt.26:53-54; Jn.19:10-11) the Catholic Church must act as though She is powerless to stop the state; even though She has all the power in the world at Her disposal.
