[From: Thomas Boes]
I have been thinking about Security as well. [snip]
I had intended to pass my thoughts along to my Seattle group at our last
meeting, but since I missed that opportunity, I will present my thoughts to
everyone here.
I intended to suggest that I could help coordinate security
activities at our Seattle event. I am not particular qualified other than
being 6'-2, 200 lbs, trained in Martial Arts with some connections to police
and military personnel... albeit in Texas (not here in Seattle).
Nevertheless, I think it would be a good idea for someone in each group to,
in the very least, serve as a communication liaison with your local police
department.
Speak with a representative in PD, and even encourage them to
suggest or [elicit] the voluntary cooperation of an off-duty officer to work
with you in observing the crowd and all activities around you.
If there are any members with Military, Police, or Security experience
please contact your organizer (or even myself). Anyone that has friends
that are PD or MP, please encourage their assistance as well.
Our primary defensive tool is observation and communication. What I
was considering was radio communication, video camera, binoculars and
that I and several others would mingle in the crowd and just get a
sense of the overall activity that is taking place.
If nothing else, I intend to video anyone else that is
breaking windows, throwing bottles, turning over newspaper boxes, etc.... in
order to demonstrate that these were not activities associated with us. At
most, I hope to be able to direct the local police to the source of any
suspicious activity, and give our people a "heads up".
The main object would be to keep things safe.
Please, share any other ideas you have with me.
[Prodos: Thank you to Thomas Boes for his suggestions and offers
of assistance. For the benefit of Coordinators and participants
I point out that, according to anti-capitalist self-delusion, a
"peaceful" protest or counter-protest includes: picketing,
destroying the leaflets and placards (i.e. private property)
of those they oppose, shouting down those they disagree with, etc.
Note: Such acts ARE and should be TREATED AS violence/coercion.
(Of course they are also evidence of the fact that the anti
capitalists have nothing else to offer: no values, no arguments,
no vision, no ideas. They are morally and intellectually
bankrupt. Other than that, they are really delightful people ;-) )
A respectful counter-protest is fine. Anything else should
be dealt with by the full force of the law - and the media.
No compromises.]
