In 1992, the Latin American bishops gathered in Santo Domingo, in the IV Conference of the CELAM, recognized that to affirm the same dignity of men and women is not enough, since this collides scandalously with the reality of the marginación that many women live. They are necessary more concrete steps toward the real equality. For this reason, they tell us, “The New Evangelización should be a resolved promoter and it active of the dignity of the women.”

The numbers 104 to 110 of the Santo Domingo document it is spoken of the urgent necessity of the taking of conscience based on the evangelical discernment and the critical analysis of the reality that the women live. As fruit of that discernment, the same document recommends several formative tasks and work in favor of the women.

Once again, in 1999, in the threshold of the new millennium, the Latin American Episcopal Conference, when speaking of the main megathendencies that trace the direction of the dawn of the new millennium, points out the Woman's topic, its irruption in the environment of the public media, the recognition of the same dignity among man and woman, the search of the own identity, etc.
