here is a selection of Malay and Indonesian traditional and contemporary
songs and tunes. Included in this selection are community songs and lullabies
sung at informal gatherings and in the homes.Many of the lyrics of the songs can be improvised; this is where the pantun come in handy. The songs are thus kept alive as contemporary thoughts are introduced from time to time. The Shaer, Dondang Sayang and the most of the Lagu Asli (Traditional Tunes) are sung in this manner as are the recently evolved Zikir Barat.
