A Continuously Active Conscience

My life is thought and action, my thoughts consist of my memories and experiences, based on my past actions and the knowledge I have gained or absorbed, that is, my understanding and learning, and includes my education and the various value systems I belong to.

Life is action, but before action there is thought. My thoughts will generate or develop into Ideas or objectives to be achieved. Achievement of Objectives or the Fruition of an Idea is nothing but the process of acting out my thoughts, which means, I am living or in existence. For this to happen I must go through a Decision-Making Process. That is, I now have a choice as to the form of action and can choose from a number of different options or choices. The decision I make is again heavily influenced by my thoughts which include my past experiences, knowledge and understanding.

Humans are most often Aware and Conscious of the actions taken. I think, therefore I am aware, conscious of the impact or consequences of my actions. But this does not mean that I will always make the right decision. For that to happen I need to be more than just conscious I have to have a Continuously Active Conscience

A conscience means that I understand and have learnt from my past experiences or absorbed the knowledge gained. Therefore I can now apply what I have learnt to the Decision-Making Process and as a result the ultimate choice of action. My conscience is my Guide. For conscience to be an effective deterrent to bad decision-making or choice of action, it has to be continuously active. A continuously active conscience leads to the continuos application of my experience and knowledge to the decision making process. An active conscience means an active mind, justifying the action, mind over matter.

Life is very subjective, in the sense that my thoughts are different from yours. Therefore, the decisions I make differ. One can say that A Way of Life is subjective, different for different people. Human progress, both physical and mental means that we have to find a common ground, a sense of objectivity within the subjective nature, that is life.

Conscience means that I apply what I learn. A way of life dedicated to the pursuit of knowledge, a pursuit that is never ending, means that I am continuously applying my thoughts to the task at hand and therefore, I have a continuously active conscience. Which means, a more rationale and reasonable approach to life. I now have more control over my actions and I can now differentiate between the contradictory elements that define human nature and all human endeavors and achieve some sense of objective thinking or a common ground for discussion and decision making. I can address with confidence the questions concerning -Morality, Ethics, Justice and Virtue. I can avoid reacting, that is, acting without thinking. My thoughts are alive and in control of the decision making process.

The Pursuit of Knowledge leads to a superior way of life and a higher level of understanding. It is a never-ending process, therefore, the flame of Conscience must be kept alive otherwise it will flicker and die, leaving us in complete darkness and confusion.(Next Page: A Sense of Material well being as opposed to the actuality of Experience)
