to the home of
Lilitu Babalon
I'm 43 years old. Originally from London, England,
I've been living in Australia for nearly 18 years, mostly in Melbourne, Victoria. In 1995
the Goddess brought me to Bellingen during a holiday, and I have been living and loving
here since February 1996, 'twixt the mountains and the sea.
I work as a psychic and healer. I am a qualified crystal therapist and Reiki
master/teacher and author of two best selling books about crystals: The Crystal
Workbook and The Crystal Checklist (under my birth name of Sheril Berkovitch
but don't call me that or I will ignore you). I have also developed a range of vibrational
remedies using crystals, gemstones, herbs, leaves and flowers. I am also a craft worker,
community radio producer and presenter at 2BBB-FM, political activist, journalist and
Witch. Recently I decided to take the path of the Church of All Worlds, after several
years of being mainly an eclectic, solitary witch. I guess eclectic Wicca with a dash of
Ceremonial is the closest thing to how I am today.
Lilitu Babalon is my Pagan name. Lilitu is another, earlier name for the Hebrew Goddess
Lilith, the angel-demon who rebelled. For me she is not only a symbol of the Goddess, but
also a role model for uppity women everywhere, who refuse to conform. And, it brings with
it a little bit of my Jewish history, for which I am grateful, and which I do not want to
forget. To
find out more about Babalon, read Jack Parsons' "Star of Babalon" essay in his
book Freedom is a Two-Edged Sword. You'll also find something about Babalon
on the Goddess Shrines.
If you want to know a little about my earlier life and my path to choosing Paganism and
Witchdom, come back. I'll be posting it here one day.
Here is a little picture of me (I don't think it's a very good one - I was having an
extraordinarily bad hair day - couldn't do a thing with it darlings! I think it's the
first photo of me since my last passport in 1988!) I'm sitting in the studio at 2BBB, pretending to present a
show... at least I am smiling, hey? (Oh, you might have noticed that I have a serious, I mean serious
fetish for black velvet and lace, but that, my sweethearts is another story altogether,
and one which I couldn't possibly tell here...) These days I look a little wilder which is
much better, don't you think?
