for a friend
This blessing was written for a dear friend when he was leaving the
town where we live to travel Australia, possibly the world.
May your journey always take you where you want to Be
May you voyage always on Oshun’s smooth seas and rivers
Her storms bypassed in the nick of time
No whirlpools shall drag you down from your path
No floods shall carry you away from your destination
May the Great Spirit shower you with only her good gifts
May passion and ecstasy always live in your soul
Your heart shall be filled with Erzulie’s abundant love
Generosity shall be your way
A great light will surround you and you shall be strong
May you find what you are seeking with ease and grace
May the Legba serve you well
In his stories the answers will become clear
May your walk be sure-footed and well placed
May you never loose direction and may your search be fruitful
May joy always sit on your shoulder, watching over you
May Simbi always protect you from harm
May you always receive as much as you give
And in the giving find your joys and delights
Always walking with sureness, never looking back
