Fluorite

Fluorite comes in a variety of colours including violet, blue, yellow, pink, green and clear. It is often found in octahedra, but also in clusters or as a massive rock.

Chakra: According to the colour of the stone

General Characteristics
Fluorite strengthens teeth and bones, improves absorption of nutrients, benefits the blood vessels and the spleen. It is a powerful healer, and helps you grasp more abstract concepts, and to develop the ability to comprehend. It balances the positive and negative aspects of the mind, that is, positive and negative thought forms. It enables the mind to maintain a meditative and centred space which in the midst of physical activity. It facilitates interdimensional communication. Generally Fluorite is stabilising and calming, and promotes intuition and understanding on a deep level.

Clear Fluorite: Third Eye and Crown Chakra
Helps focus your attention in the present moment and frees you from the hold of the past. Assists in clearing the mind during meditation. Hold clear fluorite before working with other tools from which you seek guidance (such as tarot or pendulums). Used for aligning the chakras.

Purple Fluorite: Third Eye Chakra
Also excellent for meditation, as it prepares you by calming the mind and taking you to higher levels of awareness. Its energies are calming and peaceful. Provides clarity and concentration especially to busy minds. Excellent for students as a study aid, especially for those learning complex subjects such as science and medicine. Enhances rationality.

Green Fluorite: Heart or Third Eye Chakra
Imparts a feeling of oneness with the natural environment and enhances your love of and connection to nature and the Earth Mother. Another stone for clarity, particularly on matters concerning relationships (romantic or otherwise) and spirituality.

Yellow Fluorite: Solar Plexus and Third Eye Chakra
Stabilising, particularly in groups where there is conflict. An excellent stone for use in workplaces and at meetings to maintain a calming energy. Can be used as a personal power stone when you need to be in control of what is happening around you. Balancing on all levels: physical, mental, emotional and spiritual.

Lavender Fluorite (also known as Yttrium Fluorite):
Heart, Third Eye and Crown Chakra
Can be used by psychics and clairvoyants to enhance their reading abilities. It calms the and focuses the mind in order that the reader can sort through the information received and bring clarity to their reading. It can also be used by anyone wanting to enhance their intuitive understanding and psychic receptors. All colours of Fluorite are classed as "student" stones as they enhance the person’s ability to understand and memorise facts. Lavender Fluorite is particularly useful for students of the intuitive sciences and can be used in combination with other psychic enhancement stones such as lapis lazuli, sodalite, amethyst, other fluorite colours and clear quartz crystal. (The list of compatible stones is enormous.) Those persons who undertake some form of counselling in their work such as psychologists, psychiatrists, doctors, nurses, funeral directors and social workers, will find this stone helpful in assisting with detachment and understanding of the client’s issues and problems.

A word about Chinese Fluorite:
Chinese fluorite has traditionally been used as a stone of protection and so, regardless of its colour, it will provide an element of protection to those who use it with intention. In my first book, I wrote about how Chinese fluorite was breaking up. This was around the time of the events in China at Tiananamen Square. Since then I have noticed that fluorite in general breaks up a lot. I'm not sure if this is just because it is a fairly brittle stone or if there are deeper, metaphysical reasons for this. I would be really pleased to hear from people about their experiences with fluorite - whether your stones are breaking up or not. I think I'm going to be preparing a dossier on fluorite because I feel it will be a very important stone in the coming period. So, do e-mail me if you want to share anything with me.
