The Crystal for
September 1998:

Scapolite

Scapolite is a yellow, pink, violet or colourless crystal that closely resembles kunzite and hiddenite (both stones from the spodumene family). It is also known as Wernerite. This information was obtained from a golden yellow Scapolite crystal in 1991.

Chakra: Crown, Solar Plexus

Use at the Crown chakra for bringing in light energy. It's light is golden and you may feel as though you are being bathed in golden light. Scapolite is healing energy in a very pure form and is wonderful for balancing the upper chakras, from the throat to the crown. At the solar plexus, it will assist the free flow of energy through the chakras, especially where there is a block at the solar plexus due to stress, trauma, fear, anger or other negative emotions. Scapolite's vibrational energy will help deal with sadness and emotional loss, such as the death of someone close, the ending of a relationship, or similar. It will also assist in the manifestation of material resources when you are feeling desperate. On the physical level, Scapolite can be used to draw out pain, particularly around the lower back and stomach, and it helps to release tight muscles.

On a spiritual level, Scapolite contains messages for those that come across it and it is useful for past life healing when the karmic connection is causing emotional problems and pain in the present. Scapolite resonates most closely with the sun God energy and is best cleansed by leaving in the sun (from sunrise to sunset), with the intent to purify. It is beneficial to the heart, lungs, muscular system and the brain. This stone works mostly on the emotional level, where emotional pain is manifesting as dis-ease and physical symptoms, especially pain.

When I went back to look at my original writings about Scapolite, late in 1991, I found this: "A stone that will come into its own towards the end of the 1990s decade." I will sit with this stone and include more information about it into the archives when I have time. (Of course, this is the first crystal, so the archives is not up and running yet!) However, here's a little story about my Scapolite crystal which makes sense now, but didn't then:

I travelled to India a few years ago and stayed in Jaipur for several days, where I suffered a terrible stomach bug when I slipped up and drank water that hadn't been boiled. I had left all of my stones at home because I intended to buy new ones. There I was, lying in my hotel room, very sick, in awful pain, and barely able to move. For some reason I decided to look in the pocket of my day pack and there was my Scapolite (along with a few other stones, also left behind...) Needless to say, a day of meditating and placing the stones upon me helped me get better very quickly. I was up and about, and feeling only a little worse for wear, the next day. Scapolite certainly helped ease the pain and settle my stomach, migrating as it had, several thousand miles to help me out!
