New Cabinets
I knew the stove was not going to be next to the wall as it had been in the past. I also had the dimensions of the cabinets from the 3D Architect program, but the rest was in my head. I knew I wanted slide out shelves in all the cabinets so I could see what was in them. I started each cabinet with a drawing, adding numbers later. All the cabinets are made from oak, 3/4" oak vaneer plywood and walnut accents.
Upper Spice Cabinet w/ light underneath
and sliding acrylic shelves. I etched roses on the corners of
the glass. |

Lower 12" cookie sheet cabinet. This goes under the 12" spice cabinet. It currently serves as a magazine rack in my office.
Sink/Pots N Pans cupboard with walnut edged sliding shelves and tip front storage.
This is a very large cupboard capable of storing 12 packs of pop and flour/sugar sacks between the lazy susan turntable and the walls of the cupboard. Drawers are solid oak with walnut front panels..
Island/Bookcase Cupboard will house all plugged in appliances. I measured all my appliances before I built this so they could remain in here for use. For more detailed pictures click here. |
||
Countertop for Island Oak with walnut in the middle and a bead around the edge. It took me over five hours just to sand it. |
Walnut & Oak (kitchen table I am making will
look similar, but with Intarsia in the center). |
|
Open Cupboard for Potatoes This cupboard has an indentation for the placement of a load-bearing 6 X 8 beam. |
||
Lower Sideboard Cupboard Walnut edged oak breadboards and woodburned doors from digital pictures of our farm. The door panels are removable so stained glass, punched tin or something else could be inserted. |
||
End angle cabinet shown with walnut panel. There
is decorative trim on the end since this is the last cabinet along the
wall. |
I purposely angled the shelf so I could store a large stainless steel turkey cooker in this cabinet and still get it in the door. |
|
Tall Oven Cabinet to house my new oven. I still need to make upper and lower doors. Carlie has punched the tin for these doors. I will also add some cleats and a back to make this strong enough to hold 250 lbs. The middle oven is a convection oven and the bottom oven is just a regular oven. The controls are hidden under the top cover. My office will seem much bigger when this is actually in the kitchen where it belongs! |
||
I only have drawings of this cupboard. It will go directly above the sideboard cupboard and will have glass doors and lights in it. The back of it will be wainscotting with glass shelves to let the light through. I will display colored bowls and antique glassware in this cupboard. The sides will curl down and rest on the countertop.
Upper Punched Tin Cabinet |
My daughter, Carlie, was nice enough to do some punched tin for me. These will go in an upper cabinet to the left of the upper sideboard cupboard. A pair of punched tin roosters will be on these cabinet doors. | Yet to be drawn or built. |
