Construction

Steve Monson of Wiota will be doing the construction.  We hope to begin within a week or two.  I will be adding picture to this page once construction starts.

Watch that first step, it's a doozy!

The cats are baffled and Pepper refuses to walk across boards to get to the center.

A couple days later we have wet cement in forms.
Forms were removed the next day.

Insulation was put inside the cement and clear breaker was put in the middle prior to cement.

The cement floor was poured on Tuesday.

Construction began on Wednesday.

Framing started on Wednesday.
By Thursday the new rafters are up and blue insulation board covers the exterior.

Insulation, wiring, plastic moisture barrier, and windows are installed now.  Sixteen inch narrow window is on north wall.

South wall with new door installed.

Close-up of new door. It can be stained or left natural.
The kitchen has gotten much bigger now, and some of the beams are in place. Dry wall is up and I removed the old wall.

Our, builder, Steve Monson, returned to get the beams put up and dry wall on before Thanksgiving.  It only took two days to get the drywall on, car siding on the ceiling and some of the beams put up. We are quite pleased with how things look!

Left: New addition has been taped, covered, & primed.

Right: Old kitchen is primed and window covered.

Dec. 10, 2004

Walls were plastered Dec.13.

The new floor was installed today, Dec. 14.  I really, really like the new floor. I spent last evening filling holes with joint compound and grinding and filling the joint between the two rooms.
