SPECIAL DIPLOMATIC ADVISER TO THE U.S. PRESIDENT,
SENIOR ADVISER TO THE YEAR OF THE CHILD,

Mr. Habib Chatty,
SECRETARY[-GENERAL] of "THE ISLAMIC
CONFERENCE ORGANIZATION",
Kilo 6, Makkah Al-Mukarramah Road, P.O. Box
178,
Jeddah 21422,
Saudi Arabia.
Sir:
I make this submission to you to advise you that further steps will be taken
to aid the underprivileged peoples of the world--particularly in Africa.
As
i played an original role in the preparations for the efforts now underway while
working with the Carter Administration and United Nations
Secretary-General's Office in 1978 and considerations included ones on behalf of
followers of the Islamic faith still remaining in question, i regard it as
reasonable to now advise the "Islamic Conference Organization" that
public awareness of the process since should be expected very soon.
In order to avoid misunderstanding, i am providing you with copies of my
current statements to the Arab League and "Organization of African Unity"
and my June 28, 1985 statement to the "North-South
Institute".
Requests for additional information from me about the
work will receive competent replies.
The attachments are taken from 1982 and since submissions to Christian and
Judaic religious faith followers--including the Holy See.
I
draw your attention in particular to the copy of the June 13, 1981 Toronto
Star article titled, "Religions must work
together to save our world, says scholar", which refers to a
Christian-Moslem dialogue in India to help the needy.
Christian liberation
theology continues to arouse controversy in many quarters because it in part
approves of armed conflict to improve conditions for underdeveloped states, but
it is fundamental to "a Christian concern"
that the truly needy be helped and efforts continue
in pursuit of world peace to help the disadvantaged by the means of peace and
justice.
The resort to the use of force will be rejected if these means can
be given greater and adequate respect by all those who genuinely seek to improve
the living standards of the underprivileged.
Never again should a child's
life be sacrificed to express respect for the value of a human life.
We can
lay to rest all confusion and misunderstanding between faiths by applying our
individual resources in our own and in common ways to help the needy and
preserve human lives.
Who will lose if we rely upon the standard in this
undertaking of finding fault foremost with those who sacrifice the most
lives--even one more life?
"Blessed are the meek, for they shall inherit the earth," St. Matthew Chapter 5:5 records Christ told his followers (and those who respect His teachings).
Our faiths engaged in holy wars hundreds of years ago, and today all that gives witness to it is the tragic loss of human lives and continuing misunderstanding between faiths having much in common...still costing the human lives.
Give witness to the meaning of peace which Mohammed showed, and peace will come to pass which includes and respects each one of us.
I will provide you in future with a copy of my next statement to the "World
Council of Churches".1
It is our responsibility to
encourage peace and justice for nothing less will satisfy the one Maker.
I remain, as always,
Gordon
C. Wong
1-THERE
IS SOMETHING ELSE LOOMING FOR THE NEW MILLENNIUM (BESIDES WHAT YOU FIND IF YOU
TAKE A BRIEF SIDESTEP HERE), THAT WILL INVOLVE
EITHER THE "WORLD COUNCIL OF CHURCHES" OR
ITS FORMER SECRETARY-GENERAL/PRESIDENT...OR
BOTH.
FOR A PERSPECTIVE ON IT, TAKE
A BRIEF SIDESTEP HERE AND CONSIDER PARTICULARLY THE FOOTNOTES.
IF YOU DISCERN THAT MY POINT IN THIS 1986 STATEMENT TO THE GROUP REPRESENTING THE GOVERNMENTS OF ALMOST 20% OF THE WORLD'S POPULATION WAS MY BELIEF THAT THE BLOODSHED IN PAST HAS NOT SOLVED ANYTHING AND APPROPRIATE WAYS MUST BE FOUND TO PREVENT MORE SUCH WASTE OF LIFE FOR THE FUTURE, YOU WILL, IF YOU AGREE, TAKE COMFORT IN WHAT YOU FIND IF YOU TAKE YOUR NEXT FOOTSTEP HERE...BECAUSE I TOLD HIM EXACTLY THE SAME THING.
