OTTAWA-Canadian industrial workers registered average weekly earnings of $549.15 in November, off 0.3 per cent from October but up 5 per cent from a year earlier, Statistics Canada says.
In goods-producing industries, average weekly earnings for January through November were up 4.6 per cent from a year earlier. In the same period in 1990, average weekly wages increased 5.8 per cent from a year earlier.
In service industries, average weekly earnings for January through November were up 6.5 per cent from a year earlier. This was up from 5.8-per-cent growth in the 1990 period.
Stastcan attributed the stronger rise in average service industry earnings to services involved in business management, accommodation and food.
