PLEASE DON'T BE FOOLED BY CHEAP IMITATIONS! At the 1999 Convention of the Arizona Libertarian Party, a Pima County-based faction and its supporters ran roughshod over the ALP Bylaws, its Constitution, and the platforms of both the ALP and the National Libertarian Party. They claim to have taken over the ALP, merging it into a new entity called the "Arizona Libertarian Party, Inc." In the bargain, they also claimed to replace the entire Maricopa County Libertarian Party as well.
The court challenge of these actions was decided in mid-January, 2000. The usurping "Arizona Libertarian Party, Inc." has been given its walking papers, restoring the long-time, principled ALP as the state-recognized Libertarian Party organization in Arizona. This leaves egg on the faces of not only the Pima-based faction, but on those of the national Libertarian Party leaders who unnecessarily granted official affiliate status to the "Arizona Libertarian Party, Inc." after conducting a poll of national party members (not registered Libertarians) in Arizona. The poll favored the Pima-based group. For a bunch of information on all this, visit The Arizona Libertarian Party page.

We're proud of our state party's record -- the best in the nation, we think! Unfortunately, a takeover bid at the 1999 Annual Convention has left it in tatters. Here are ways you can get more information about it:
