Greetings from ProLIBERTAD! The campaign for the release of the Puerto rican political prisoners and prisoners of war continues and needs your support and participation more than ever. We have developed a work plan for the coming year with projects that promise to be of interest to our friends and supporters. ProLIBERTAD is always seeking creative ways to bring our amnesty message and the history of the plight of the Puerto Rican prisoners to the people. This Winter we are continuing the project started last year with the goal of educating and mobilizing new people to support the campaign and reactivating old supporters. This project is entitled "The Freedom Quilt". We are asking family, friends and supporters of the prisoners and the campaign for amnesty to contribute panels for the Freedom Quilt. Through the panels we will try to tell people about the history of the prisoners and their families, the prisoners' homeland, and the struggle for amnesty. Individuals or organizations can contribute panels. The panels should measure 3feet by 3 feet. Attached to your panel a card stating who is the contributor and a short explanation of the contents of the panel. Panels have been collected since May 10, 1997, but we will be continuing the collection of panels till July '98. The hope is to display the quilt for the July rally for the freedom of the PRPPs. Work on your panels now, and send completed ones to Rosa M. carcia, 580 West 215th Street #2G, NYC NY 10034. The opening of the Freedom Quilt took place in New York City last Summer. And it is now traveling the country to different cities, churches, schools, community centers, union halls, etc. Panels will be added as it tours the country, but the hope is to have it complete for July!
