Kick (Freestyle)**Knee
Flex**Knee Pops
aka Heel Stomps
KICK (Freestyle): A movement
of the whole leg from the hip in any direction.
-
KICK/FLICK BALL CHANGE: A kick
or flick of the right foot followed by a small step back onto the ball
of the right foot with part weight and then a small step forward or on
the spot onto the left foot. Can start on the left foot. May also be danced
in reverse, i.e. Ball Change Kick/Flick.
-
SCISSORS KICK: A step forward
on the right foot followed by a swing into a front high kick with the left
leg and then a kick into a front high kick with the right leg so that the
legs pass each other in the air. Landing on the left leg with slight flexing
of the knee. May commence on the left foot.
-
SPRING KICK: A spring onto the
balls of both feet followed by a spring onto the ball of one foot throwing
the other leg upwards into a front kick.
KNEE FLEX
is a soft and slight bending of the knee. By flexing the knee, a dancer
absorbs much of the shock of harsh movements. Flexing the knees also adds
control and improves a dancers speed and balance.
KNEE POPS
aka HEEL STOMPS: Lift both heels off the floor by bending the knees.
Return the heels to the floor. Takes one beat of music and counted as 'and
1'
