Play Dough Monsters

Click to see me BIG! By using play-dough you can make a really neat monster. Best of all play dough is simple to make using ingredients that are probably already in the kitchen (but remember to check with a grown up first). So check our recipe and we'll show you how to make the play dough as well as give you some tips to help you make your own awesome monster!

- Play Dough Recipe -

1 1/2 Cups of water
3/4 Cups salt
1 tablespoon cream of tarter
3 tablespoons of vegetable oil
1 1/2 Cups of white flour
food coloring

Bring water to a boil, then turn burner down to low. Add salt. Slowly stir in the cream of tarter, veg oil and then flour. Keep stirring for about 5 mins. If the dough is too dry, keep adding water a teaspoon at a time. If it is too wet, keep stirring over low heat. Allow the play dough to cool on wax paper. Knead the food coloring into the play dough.

Helpful Hints!

A. You will want to have three or four different colours for your monster(s) but most likely you'll want more of one colour for the monsters body. If you are only going to make one monster instead of making 3 or 4 batches of play dough, make one and split it.

B. Remember a monster can look like anything you like! so just have fun and try some different things. Play dough can be used over and over so you can keep trying different "looks" until you find just the right monster.

C. If you let the play dough dry out you can keep your monster for two or three months!

D. Have fun! and get used to sticking the play dough together. If play dough dosen't stick try using a little bit of water on the bottom of the piece you are sticking, keep trying! It will work.
