The Olympic radio system was a trunking system. They used Motorola XTS3000 Trunking radios. These radios, however, were tagged to be Samsung radios, as Motorola was not a games sponsor but Samsung was. They operated on 434MHz.
Thanks to Dave VK2GZ for that information.
Trunking means that the radios automatically change frequency periodically by means of another frequency telling them what channel to use. This is computer controlled. CLICK HERE FOR MORE INFORMATION ON TRUNKING SYSTEMS!

The latest radios I have seen that the stagecrew at Stadium Australia have been using are Motorola units. This was at the NRL double header in 2001. I did not take my scanner, so unfortunately cannot tell you the frequencies. However, here are the frequencies that were in use for the Olympic and Paralympic Opening (and, I assume, closing) Ceremonies. (I later found out that scanners were banned in the Olympic site, but hey, why didn't that Policeman who I spoke to kick me out?)

The output frequencies for the Ceremonies' stage crews were continuous carrier (no audio unless someone was speaking, but signal all the time). I found that because of this I could not scan them for activity. Never mind, the solution to that problem is to scan the input frequencies, but of course they are not as easy to find, because there is only a signal when someone is talking (as opposed to all the time). I have found some strange stuff on some of these frequencies recently (it was actually the 25th of Feb, 2001), which was mostly continuous data or continuous carrier.

Recently channel 7's show, "All Saints", were filming just across the road from us.Thanks to my trusty Dick Smith scanner book (very old), I programmed in the channelo 7 frequencies. I scanned these frequencies, and shortly found that they were using one. (see table below). There are other channel 7 frequencies, and All Saints crew may use a different channel every time, but below is the freq. they were using at my place.
Frequency Notes
470.725 "All Saints" crew
