Melami's Journal
Before you open the book, you notice a piece of paper sticking out of it. You pull it out and read it.
I don't really know about writing. I never really wrote down anything because it was never really important. But Anthite, my oldest sister, gave me this journal so she'd know what I've been up to. Anthy and I were always closest. So I think I'll tell this pages what has been going on in my life later. I am Weyrbred, but I never really wanted a dragon. There was never a Weaver in my family so I decided to be one. My father didn't really like that. He wanted me to be a Tanner. Mother loved the idea because her mother wanted her to be Healer. Mother argued that she'd probably kill someone if she even to heal them. Mother is so funny. So, I went to Weaver Hall to become a Weaver. I was quickly Searched so I now I'm a candidate at Gallimim Weyr. I am still a Weaver and , personally, I think I have excelled greatly. Sometimes I would watch the Weyrling Classes outside my window and I would draw the young ones riding their dragons and I would long for a dragon. They always looked so happy with their dragons, such beautiful creatures. I do hope the Hatching occurs soon. The Hatching has occured and I welcome Karnth into my weyr. Karnth isn't a gold nor a green, but a brown, and I love him dearly. The Hatching was rather slow, and we had almost an hour before the eggs actually started hatching. I gave Mother the tapestry, which ironically, was of a brown that had caught a gold. Unfortunatly, Karnth won't be catching a green or a gold. Or maybe he will. I was thinking, that since males can Impress greens, why doesn't Karnth try for one of those? Of course, I'll have to wait for a green with a male rider to rise, though. But the Weyrwoman at Gallimim said another female be due to rise in a few sevendays. I can wait, though. Besides, Karnth isn't even full grown yet! I waited twenty turns to Impress a dragon, I can wait more for a female to rise.
On the table are two wher-hide skins, maps to Gallimim Weyr and Talor Cliff Weyr. Also on the table is a leather bound book or you could explore Melami's weyr further.
