Café Java

This page contains links to some Java applets that I wrote back in 1997 when I was learning how to program in Java. I hope you like them.

The applet pages contain links to the source code if you're curious. Note that I was new to Java at the time, and no doubt there are some improvements that could be made.

Note: When you select an applet (from the menu below) it will open in a separate window. Close the applet's window when you're done.

Java Applets:

Applets require a Java-enabled browser

In recent times client-side Java has lost ground to Flash/Shockwave. Some of the applets presented here may not even work with current browsers. I have rewritten several of these applets using Flash/Shockwave. Nowadays I do most of my Java programming on server-based applications and web sites.

You can find other Java resources here:

"The programmer, like the poet, works only slightly removed from pure thought-stuff. He builds his castles in the air, from air, creating by exertion of the imagination."

-- Frederick P. Brooks Jr, The Mythical Man Month (1974)
