Seiko wachesIn 1881, Kintaro Hattori opens a clock shop in Tokyo's fabled Ginza district. This store is the direct ancestor of today's Seiko Corporation, Tokyo, the parent company of Seiko Corporation of America. Established under the name of K. Hattori & Co. Ltd., the history of Seiko begins. With ten workers under his employment, Kintaro Harttori establishes a clock factory at Ishiwara-cho, Tokyo. After two decades of mastering clock technology, the first wristwatch under the name of Seiko in made. A new watch factory is established. A year later in 1938, it produces 1,179,639 watches. In 1992, Seiko introduces its revolutionary Kinetic technology to the United States. Solely movement of the human body powers this watch, which requires no battery change. |
