Once-in-a-Lifetime Knits

a.k.a. What drove me to computers, knit design programs, and electronic knitting machines!

This first garment I call Urban Wolf. It was created for a friend of mine who lives in Washington, DC. It is made from 100% Homegrown, Handspun, Hand Dyed, and Hand Knit Wool!!! And if that wasn't enough work, I had to chart it on redrawn graph paper in order to achieve relative stitch size perspective. This was my first attempt at hand knit intarsia design! The design features an Urban Wolf with a heart line, howling at the moon from the DC Mall between the Capitol and the Washington Monument. Moon Phases encircle the neckline and shoulders. A large wolf's paw rests over my friend's heart in front, the result of a dream he had. This design is a west meets east idea (I was raised near DC). The entire garment was knit in the round as one piece out of single ply yarn. I discovered computers, knit design programs, and knitting machines shortly after completing this piece. I'm still thanking my lucky stars!

These two coats feature designs by Kaffe Fasset from his book entitled "Glorious Color". I fashioned them out of 100% Homegrown, Handspun, Hand Dyed and Natural 2ply Wool from my pet Corriedale ewes, Baabs and Brown Betty. Both are Hand Knit in one piece. Baabs and Brown Betty will never be forgotten, they warmed me and kept me busy for many long Idaho mountain winters. They're also the inspiration behind my sheep logo. That's me behind the Ray Bans.
