Pictures of Freddie when she was gravid
These pictures were taken the 29th of May 1997, the day we brought her in for her surgery (to have her ovaries removed). She had a total of 28 eggs. I didn't want to let her lay them because, first of all, the eggs were unfertile (we didn't have Cujo at the time, and even if we did, I had no intention to breed her). Therefore, I felt it would be useless to put Freddie through the stress of having to lay eggs year after year, on top of the burden for me to prepare an egging box each time. This was a decision I had taken the minute I found out Freddie was a female; I was basically just waiting for her to produce eggs, because the surgery is easier to perform when the ovaries are full. In our situation, surgery was the best solution, for us and for Freddie...
