Welcome to the continuously revised Kids-in-Crisis site! We are always trying to stay current so please bear with
us while
we continue.
When we started this site, our original intention was to just provide links to other informative or helpful websites. However, time has shown that sites change or disappear frequently. As a result, we began including more and more subject content on this site to preserve the good information we were finding elsewhere. We hope that you find this approach helpful.
Philosophy of Kids-in-Crisis We believe that kids and teens can better deal with, and make good choices about, the issues that confront them when they have real information at their disposal. Information is power and kids and teens are smart enough to draw strength from information. It is most often the lack of information and the fear that comes from the lack of information that disables kids and leaves them vulnerable. Our Mission Provide meaningful information, online counseling/intervention links, hotline and other informational links, to kids and teens, boys and girls, who are having difficult life problems or questions, and who don't know how and where to turn for help and answers. |
The Whitehouse released a new booklet on Aug. 6, 2002.
Parents, kids and teens should read --
"Personal Safety for Children: A Guide for Parents."
The booklet is designed to help parents take specific steps
to improve the safety of their children,
and it includes information that children of all ages can understand.
The guidebook reflects the work of experts on child safety
from the Department of Justice, the Department of Education, the FBI
and the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children.
It is available online in English and in Spanish at MissingKids.com.
Are You a Missing Kid? Are You Sure? Were you taken from your parents, your home? Look here and ask yourself the questions listed on the site, which features resources for missing and runaway kids. If you think you might be a missing kid, then this is the place to start. AngelAID AngelAID is a non profit group, working in and around Jacksonville, Florida. AngelAID was established by two amazing people who had the privilege to foster parent a 9 year old girl who had contracted AIDS from the sexual abuse she experienced earlier in her life. The story is heartwarming and I did not know where to place this link, so I decided to give it its own link from the front page.
